CHIN ENG
NOMOOD
AMORTIFIED PENGIUN
This few are not helping at all..and first of all i don't know what they are but most of them their photos are just - so so. Except for Chin Eng and Nomood who have not shown their own photos, or that they have nothing to show?
How can you expect anyone to learn from you when you can only take so so photos? Photos so common you see when you are at the right place at the right time with the right equipment to capture the scene.
The only one here who can inspire (not teach) me with his photos is PointBlue but trust me i will never pick up his Photoshop habit even then.
Please go start your own thread with your own photos
What is joy, what is thrill, what is melancholy? The mind relates to the 3 sentiments at different situations and is triggered at different intensity. A photo easily triggers a thrill when a person who has never been to the Grand Canyon sees one shot for the first time. For anyone who has been there and taken photos of the scene it will take more than the Grand Canton to thrill him. It may even take more than the roller coastal ride for that person.Originally posted by Chin Eng:I am doing this because this has been a real lazy afternoon at work.
1. I never claimed to be a good photographer, which is why I cannot post my photos.
2. Having said that, any one knows what a good meal is, without being a good chef. Therefore, it's enough to say that your photographs are so-so at best, crappy at worst.
3. I have not given you any tips on how to take good pictures, except maybe to modify your angle a little bit.... and I do not presume to able to teach you, just sharing an opinion, which you of course has taken offence to.
4. I have, however, tried to share with you on how you can allow people to appreciate your photos a little better by reducing the contrast of your "copyright" statement (that's the intention isn't it) so that your photo will look good.
5. You don't want to do Photoshop? I can understand, but why use digital camera? Because you have more functions in your hand than, say, traditional film cameras? You can use the sepia setting? and control the speed and exposure more? and that when you scru up ten times you can get a relative passable shot? Want to be really challenged? Use a film camera....
6. Your arrogance knows no bounds. You say that even Pointblue cannot teach you, only inspire you? By looking at Pointblue's photos, I can safely conclude that he has got skills that you cannot even dream about having.
7. You just plain refuse to admit that you have lots to learn about photography. My friend, photography is about the emotion and the feel. Let me say that you have none. When I looked into Pointblue's masterpiece, I can feel the photo: the melancholy, the joy, the thrill.... sorry to say.... yours' flat!
True.... only if you wish to maintain at the level of a snapshot shooter. That being the case, I really don't know why one would want to show off such mediocre work, and refuse to accept comments.Originally posted by Farmerseed:COMPARING AN APPLE WITH A DURIAN...comparing a snapshot with a work of art.
Of course I accept the fact.... afterall I have used at least 5 digital cameras.... from a 3.34, maybe 5 years ago, to a 8 megapixel, a year and a half ago.Originally posted by Farmerseed:Film photography is classic now though it will not be replaced entired soon. The digital age has long arrived and its making its way into photography changing the way photos are taken and processed, bringing photography more affordable and closer to everyone everyday.
Accept the fact
Yes i cannot agree better. I will use this statement the next time with amortifiedPenguin

Perhaps it's the case of satisfying the ego? Perhaps mediocricy is an artform in itself and it is so achievable.
I have used film and digital cameras ranging from 2 mp to 10 mp, 2 years ago.

My point to you is: you accepted digital photography yet you reject the paraphernalias attached to it.... eg Photoshop. So strange....
I show these photos because i want to that's all? Its a boring afternnon at work and i was trying to get by the time until i knock off. Why would you even want to comment when you can't change a thing at all? By saying this you think you will stop me from showing my photos, one each everyday? No it wouldn't change anything. And i bet you will come to my thread everyday looking forward to my photos and adding replies hoping i will stop posting them. No you don't know what is respect and how to bring out or sell an idea.
...so the mystery of the day is: why bother to show these photos? Probably the only person who thinks they are good is yourself.... but I recognise and respect the freedom you have in exhibiting your materials, regardless of how mediocre they are..... keep it up.... it is a good lesson.

You also need either: lots of money or a travelling job.Originally posted by Farmerseed:As for the others who actively contributed,
Thanks for showing your great travel, voyeurish and medicre photos, many people who travels can take photos like that and when i am bored with plenty of time to spare i can do the same, better if i have an expensive camera.
Personally, and no offence intended.... a little more humility and politeness will help too.Originally posted by Farmerseed:To Moderators:
I realised that opinions given by the return posters here are mostly not constructive and is not improving my photography skills and techniques. I will seek more knowledge through the internet and alternate sources. I will not be posting anymore photos in this thread i created and the moderators are free to lock or close this thread.
Thanks! Although my photoshop isn't my main intention of taking photos. Truth be told, there's actually very little photoshopping done to my photos other than contrast and sharpening, which most photographers (pro or not) out there does anyway.Originally posted by Farmerseed:To all who contributed to this thread:
Pointblue,
I like your photoshop skills. Comments really appreciated since you are into Art (photography) and i brushed it (sketching) for 8 years, and when liked minds comunicate, we understands each other because we have been there.
Well, go back there and read Pointblue's comments... I have learnt something from those comments.Originally posted by Farmerseed:Once again you still don't get it.
You don't need a travelling job and lots of money to buy a good camera and find good locations for your photo shoot. Ecxentrique's sunrise pics have proven that.
If you'd read my comment to haoz... I said I DON'T KNOW what camera he is using. Unless hoaz disagrees with me, and tells me why, then I really don't see why you are so upset.Originally posted by Farmerseed:Yes and i am going to humiliate you more here since you even suggest to Haoz30 on using selective focusing with a fast moving subject from a PnS digicam. Do you even know how to operate a digicam properly? All your photos were shot on subjects that are already stuning and colorful, bright with contrast set in the night or the dark. Worse you even use words to explain to everyone what you were trying to show, and use words to cover your mistakes. What makes you think you can even comment to my above posts? Search? DO i need to search? I need only 2 months of shooting on my own at leisure pace to figure out what i want starting from scratch, while you have been shooting voyeurish pics for years and don't realize that it has been so.
Unless the mod tells me I cannot post my stuff here, I have every right to do this. Why are you attempting to chase me away? So are you NOW SAYING that I have no right to post my stuff. Sure, get a couple of names and petition, and I will go away.Originally posted by Farmerseed:Seriously you should post in another forum named "tour". Humbly i know it costs money to run a website of your own to post your tour photos but i guess you have no more left to spare
If you need money mayb i and some of my friends can help.
And you keep coming back and posting on my thread? Did you missed my photos
If I am allowed to further comment.... touching up a photo is not only limited to digital photos.... most portrait photographers does that anyway, using paint.Originally posted by PointBlue:Thanks! Although my photoshop isn't my main intention of taking photos. Don't be too skeptical of photoshop as a 'cheater's tool'. Most people are actually put off because they don't know how to use it. For me, photoshop has its ethical limits, so usually the only things I adjust is colour and contrast based editing. These aren't considered manipulation.
Like I said, photoshop is a difficult tool to use, but like all things in photography, tools hardly matter. It is just the person behind the viewfinder that truly makes a photograph sparkle.
See you come back again and like a child you give childish remarks. The point (obviously you don't get it) is you are not someone fit to tell me what is photography, not you can live in your own little wonderland that i was trying 'to be the best photographer in this world'. If you have a son and your son learn from your attitude, then gone we will have an endless world of ignorant people like yourself.Originally posted by Chin Eng:aiyah.... no end lah...
up to you lah.... you win.... you are the best photographer here. OK now?
but nothing to see liao leh.... so maybe I can stop coming back....
hmm... what so childish about those remarks. Other than making one comment, I have not said anything else about your photos.Originally posted by Farmerseed:See you come back again and like a child you give childish remarks. And i can predict you coming back again for more when i alredy stated there is nothing in this thread to discuss about now, save from your refusal to accept that you have wasted years taking voyeurish photos and showing the world your tour photo album collections.
