erm... you said the image is 1800x1200... mm right? irregardless of size? coz i wanna do an A4 size..will it still be the same? And if i rotate it to lansacape instead of potrait.. the dimensions will change itself?Originally posted by jOhO:when u open a photo in PS, there is no default document size, but there are default resolutions depending on wat the image is for.
for prints, the default is 300dpi, and for web it's 72dpi, unless you go and change it under the options.
so if you want to print, and your image is 1800x1200, you should see a size as 6" x 4" if your resolution is set at 300dpi, for example. you can do this, as parka mentioned, in Image > Image Size.

300dpi for the resolution is 300pixels / inch?
oh.. so he was talking about the pixels dimensions? not the document dimensions? so for the document dimensions, i chance it to the width and size for A4 (e.d 210mm x 297mm) ?Originally posted by M©+square:1800x1200px
He meant resizing the image to 1800x1200px will bring it to a specific print size of 6 by 4 inch.
how big is your original image size?Originally posted by silv3rgal:oh.. so he was talking about the pixels dimensions? not the document dimensions? so for the document dimensions, i chance it to the width and size for A4 (e.d 210mm x 297mm) ?
Erm.. but after changing my pixel dimensions.. my doc dimensions changed to 6 x 4.... i think i get what he meant..Originally posted by silv3rgal:oh.. so he was talking about the pixels dimensions? not the document dimensions? so for the document dimensions, i change it to the width and size for A4 (e.d 210mm x 297mm) ?
Erm.. i'm not too sure, i used a 800x600 wallpaper as a base.. edited it and so on..and cut off a portion of it..Originally posted by M©+square:how big is your original image size?
Oh, document size matters.Originally posted by silv3rgal:Erm.. but after changing my pixel dimensions.. my doc dimensions changed to 6 x 4.... i think i get what he meant..
so the document size doesn't matter? if i wanna print it at photocopy shops.. i will just tell that fella what size i wanna print? and that will be it? i don't need to adjust it now using photoshop? And it won't affect the quality of the picture?
I see! Thanks alot parka...Originally posted by Parka:Oh, document size matters.
(pixels per inch (ppi) is used for displaying images on screens. dots per inch (dpi) is for printing. So typically 1 ppi should translate to 1 dpi for high quality print)
E.g.
- A4 (29.7cm by 21cm) at 72ppi will print low quality pictures at the photoshop
- A4 at 300ppi will print good quality
i think any print shop will do that, just give them the image and they'll print it.Originally posted by silv3rgal:I see! Thanks alot parka...
Juz wondering if u guys ever send photoshop created pix for printing at shops? Do you all know of any shops which helps to print personal calenders??
I see....... thanks man!Originally posted by kopiosatu:i think any print shop will do that, just give them the image and they'll print it.
but i think its either 150 or 72dpi... whereas photos use 300dpi.
