I think I might have posted this topic in Chit Chat before.
Are Singapporeans choosy about jobs?
Yes, without a doubt.
While I was looking for a job, my friend asked me if I would want to work at the construction site. Polishing doors.
He too was an undergraduate, and am polishing doors for hie friend's dad.
The first thought that flashed my mind was to reject it, but I said "Sure." Times are hard, the fact that I had that thought in me was already proof that I'm choosy.
Some days later, while I was in ICT, I asked another one of my friend if he would take up this sort of job. "No," he said. he said he couldn't take this sort of job. (He's larger in size than me, if that's of any use.) The fact that he was studying, engineering, he told me is so that one day he could get those jobs that wouldn't require him to work under the sun.
Often times, I think, there are so many jobs in Straits Times classified, how could there be people who say that there aren't any job?
Employers are to blame too. Some are reported to pay their workers so low that they can't even cover for their transport, bills and food, not to mention some keep for their family.
Choosy, I would say that a lot, judging from the response from my group of friends.
