initial D comic vs anime, depending on how you see it, both got ups and downs.
the comic is more focused on story, the artist's drawings aren't very clean unlike most other comics. when you take drawing classes, they'll tell you to try to use 1 line only as much as possible, instead of using multiple short lines like most ppl do as though sketching. it makes the drawings look more realistic and cleaner.
the artist doesn't listen to this rule... so.....
but his drawings for backgrounds and vehicles are spectacular. i personally prefer the comic over the anime.
it's best to read the comics 1st. this way you know the story and what's going on. then you watch the anime, just to see the race scenes
+ another problem in anime is the thing regarding copyrights... the petrol kiosk is actually esso... natsuki doesn't really flip burgers. her relationship wif her 'papa' is made known from the start. anime is made for tv, means bigger audience, means censorship.
me
censorship.
