  I live in woodlands for the past 3 years, its not that bad actually. At least woodlands got arcade and cinema there. And you can take mrt to yishun or chua chu kang or bukit batok or jurong east, which only takes 15mins? These places are shopping malls which have gong cha, cotton on, arcade, cinema, etc... Of course bishan, ang mo kio here are better, but if people that live in boon lay, joo koon, isn't it worst? My workplace is at joo koon, so if i have to take korean lessons (bugis), its like 45min-50mins of mrt ride... If go orchard/somerset still have to change line, dk need take how long.... I think best is live at upper thomson. I have direct bus to sembawang, yishun, bugis, only takes me 30min bus ride. Plus its only a few bus stops away from marmount and bishan mrt (yellow line) and ang mo kio mrt (red).

  The problem which I faced in Woodlands is their drainage system is not good. For example, every time it rains, there are always 'pool' of water that will stay beside the void deck or linkway corridor. Some of the walking pathway is built with marble which make it very diffcult or dangerous to walk around.

  Same sentiments. I live at tpy and each time i have to travel to woodland i always get that meh feeling, took me 45 minutes just MRT alone excluding my bus trip. Maybe you should move to tpy or Bishan in future, although the housing price here is a bit more expensive but you will feel so alive. 20 minutes to reach Orchard and about 25 minutes to reach Raffles Place in the morning when the train travels very fast.

  But I think living in Jurong seems worser, cause i got one period need to keep travelling there and i find the people dress code and style of living there is very different from town area people.
