I am tired of desk bound job in Raffles Place, hate irritate and fussy working businessman and women chopping table at crowded lunch time. Hate the peak hour traffic!!
Is is possible for a business graduates like me to work in engineering field? Repairing ships and aircraft.....
business then go repair things?
no
u go get the related qualification first.
no.
no.
if engineering to business then can.
Wah, its a big jump! Would you get used to the hot weather compared to comfortable air-con in your office?
And i hope its not because of the poor attitudes of the CBD people chopping of places that makes you want to switch job right? Even those canteen in any engineering company will have such people also. Live with it lor.
If u are switching due to interest.... can try the Sales Engineer kind of job?
can switch to healthcare... always in need of staff! not desk bound, very interesting some more, can get to meet and interact with ppl from all sorts of life! lotsa of stories to share with ur frens on weekends =) but den hor... must get used to e smell k.. change diapers.. collect urine & stools... e uncles and aunties who haven't bathed for months go hospital too.
point being: every job has its perks and nuances.
for engineering, some ppl find it even more boring than a office desk job. n certain types of engineering requires getting some grease, dirt and oil... not gd for young gals' skin =p engineering is specialized and requires prior training, not possible to just walk in.
from e other side, most blue collar ppl wouldn't mind exchanging for a desk bound job... air con and comfortable
must haf been the channel 8 EDB series that glamourised engineering =p
i guess e pasture always seem greener on the side. All e best!

Hi Meilin86, I placed these questions if you are serious about engineering and if all these condition suit you , then Congratulations ! Engineering is for you
1) Do you like to work under deadline/target and pressure, for instance repair Dell Desktop(or anything) before ?? p.m(or whatever time), otherwise your customer complaint and you have to be very sorry to them.
2) You will have to perform regular "checklist" like the pipe is ok, the pressure is ok etc.(In every engineering there bound to be "performance check").
3) For engineering related to IT like programming, you key in a lot of codes only to find that the application cannot run and it go back to point 1.
4) For a starter, you are proud that people recognized you and call you an technician or production operator.(otherwise if not, study 4 years part-time in poly if you have the time).
5) You love to learn new things and have this mindset that today you use Visual Studio 2005, tommorow you must know Visual Studio 2008.
6) Lone-ranger/Freak ( Do you discuss C++ or how to repair car to your family and they listen to you like Celine Dion ?)
Long Live Engineering !
dun b toopid lah u.
I think Dear TS got brainwashed by that recent mediacork show ... ...
I think only available jobs these days are casino jobs, kopitiam and cleaner jobs.
And apparently a lot of people are also trying to get out of their financial, engineering, accounting jobs but have nowhere else to go because there just isn't any good decent jobs around.

And after studying do what?
Become cleaners and kopitiam workers?
u come out TRIPLE the power while those new grads only.. aneh nia. If u double degree before.. u come out after this.. TRIPLE degree liaw la..
e.g : Accounting/Law/Engineering/
If i see this in my interview.. i will be like gawd damn! I will hire this guy at the same price as the fresh grads. LOL!
Those other grads become cleaners n kopitiam workers .
The way I see it, having just a basic degree is not even the minimum these days.
You need to have a MBA or ACCA or PhD or CFP or whatever shit you can add to your name behind.
And then you qualify for an interview ...
