  She was a Singaporean before moving on to Hong Kong to be an actress.. I heard mommy say she was a popular artiste back then.. something to do with singing one.

  in the US (and also some other angmoh countries), mothers dread the day their little daughters stop calling them 'mommy' and start calling them 'mom' instead.
