Info On Joining Israeli Defense Force (IDF)

To the best of my knowledge, the Israeli Defense Force or IDF consists of constripts, volunteer professional soldiers and overseas volunteers.
Interested overseas volunteers can apply through the IDF website.
I am interested in joining the IDF. For your info, I had completed 2 years of NS in the SAF and 5 ICTs so I think the basic training in Israel will not be too much of a problem for me.
Anyone have any insight into the IDF training as I had long heard that training in the IDF is much tougher than what we have in the SAF! What chances will I be deployed o war zones? eg. Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria, Iran
Lastly, can I apply for an exemptions for further ICTs if I decide to migrate to Israel and join the IDF?

But Israel is run by jews of mostly jewish faith, not Christains.

Yes, it belongs to God's people! This piece of land was orginally created by the Christian God soley for his people! It's in the bible!
Jews and Christians are united as one as God's people and they own the right to Israel. I was the Muslims who conquered it in the 7th century and continue to stake a claim to the territory up till today!

I can't start a war! I'm not the Israeli President! By the way, I want peace not war! Israel and the Middle-East is a very volotile land which means a simple war between Israel and the Muslims may spark an all-out war in the entire region! Israel will not be able to defend itself without American help! The US is currently exhausting their troops in Afghanisan and may not be able to offer assistance.
Hence, a major nuclear war will escalate as Israel will see using nuclear weapons as the only means to defend itself and Iran are very compelled to use nuclear weapons as well! World War 3 will begin! Do you think anyone wants that to happen?

You and summer have said some stupid things, but I'll tell you what.
First, getting into Israel. Go read up on the Law of Return. Essentially it says if you're a Jew, you get in. Many Africans and Russians migrate to Israel and serve. Incidentally some IDF units are formed by ethnic group.
About getting out of Sg, you are exempted from ICTs if you are overseas on a long term basis, eg for study or if you're simply living overseas. Proof of being physically overseas is necesary. Certainly you're free to switch citizenship and migrate. Have you heard of anyone waiting for the age of 45 to migrate?
Essentially the law says you cannot avoid a callup if you are in Singapore. The law cannot make it illegal to miss a callup not scheduled in advance while you are not in Sg. But it is illegal to avoid one by going overseas when a callup has already been scheduled in advance for you, in which case you may appeal to deferment of the callup.

They get called up every year, but every call up they go to is to fight a real threat, and the possibility of not coming back. Not go in camp, and play iphone in bunk.
By the way, their ORD is 20 years, not like us 10 years.

Since so many new Israeli immigrants serve, I wonder if their max draft age for immigrants and other conditions are tighter than the pathetic ones we impose on our immigrants.

good aspiration Country Boy.... if it is for training is fine....but the spirit of fighting is for world peace and not just from individual or sectional or under religious perspective.....that is not correct....we need to be conscientious and be sensitive to racial harmony.... u have to do it under proper guidance and channel via SAF...and in fact, there are many such opportunities that our soldiers are being sent to the warfront in other countries but under world peace missions and with impartiality.... if u r interested, u can check with your superiors....and do remember what you have pledged.. You nuts? Every day the Israelis get attack left and right. Israel is very unsafe. I don't think you will find pleasure in joining IDF - the israelis are known to discriminate christians. The israelis even discriminate their own jews especially those jews that are from african origin. You will find it hard to assimilate because IDF speak in Hebrew not english. There are a lot of religious differences betw christians and jews.
Also you will find no joy in killing palestinian kids and see IDF persecute the palestinians. IDF indiscriminately kill palestinians. Remember - a lot of palestinians are christians too especially those who live in Bethelehem.
If you really want to be a professional soldier - go join the French Foreign Legionnaires (FFL). FFL have very good training and career prospects. They also send you overseas to fight like Afganistan. After service of 5 years - you get French citizenship. FFL is a foreign career fighting force consists of all foreigners like China, Germans, Spanish, Brazilians, Americans, Nepali, etc. FFL is one of the best army in the world. They have three training centres - France, Mayotte and Djoiboti.
A lot of former FFL after retirement join mercenaries because their army skills such as sniper and commando are highly valued. Training is very tough so remember you must be mentally prepared. NS is nothing compared to FFL because FFL is an elite fighting force - one of the best in the world.

Interesting. And that was from a Arabic (Yes, I believe the "religion" card got a bit mixed up with the "racial bias" cards) worshipping lapdog? As for the Foreign Legion, there is a lot of hidden dirty stuff they do. Their SOP for pacification of a region is to kill all POWs. Go read up the Suez incident when they, England and Israel hit Egypt for trying to close the Suez Canal.

Yes, Israel needs to be defended, but the Israelis will do it themselves.
If you are a Christian...you will understand everything happens for a purpose and is in God's control. There's nothing you can do to attempt changing history...nor does your 'help' matter to anything. You might as well do something more useful and make real contributions to mankind and society.
You may be outwardly proclaiming peace, but your actions can be considered militant and borders on being illegal on several grounds.
