RSAF EC-120 - Are they carrying something?

If you have looked up at an RSAF EC-120 (or Fennec, I can't tell from the ground) do you get the feeling they are carrying a very long and thin object on the right?
This object is as long as the helicopter's cabin, it does not look like a weapon. Rather it looks like a rod attached to the lower right of the helicopter.
Anyone know what this is?

2 possibilities I can think offhand are refueling probe or airflow monitor (airspeed monitor)

It's not either of these. Google image search "EC-120" and you will see ALOT of it.

Yes that item. It's on the skids but don't know what it is. All RSAF ones have it.

How do they work and what do they protect against? They are mounted above the skids, normally they won't have contact with anything.
Btw the Jet ranger in the site you posted also has such devices.

Sorry thought you meant right of the cockpit.
It looks like a support strut for the skid considering the skid only has one attachment point, looks like some reinforcement was needed.
