It looks like airstrikes will start anytime......now that there is a UN resolution.
Think there is a misunderstanding. There is a resolution to enforce a "No-Fly Zone", not start an invasion of Libya. More accurate to call it "air cover" than airstrike. For example, the intervening fighters CANNOT engage Gadhafi's tanks or artillery.
Though this might just give the Libyans a fighting chance, hopefully.
hope Ghadaffi wins..................the West is trying to steal Libyan oil again..............
... The Libyan people are immigrating West?
the rebels are puppets of the West......................
just like Iraq......................the oil contracts given to Western oil companies............
Asro, if the "West" have so much control they can get 4? countries to revolt simultanously, they won't even need to use "rebels". That degree of control is "walk in freely" level.
Frankly, I think it really is more of what was actually reported, severe mismanagement and stealing from the people that backfired and a lot of seriously pissed off people.
And you do realise you're insulting the Libyanese people? I know you love to look on the perverted side of things, but you really should be careful not to insult people you don't know. Those people will be the force of change you and I will never be. Even if it costs them their life. Got to respect that.
to fool the masses, rebels are needed ................to show that foreign forces are NOT at work...................
the truth is the jews are the hidden hand in all this..................
ask yourself.............what are the chances of so many revolts in the Arab world happening all at once.....................and against leaders that have been around for ages...............
Did you all hear his son go on som earnt on how he paid for sarkosy's presidency??
Interesting.
i think it is navie to assume Gadhafi will continue to lead Libya after this is done. The UN resolution also call for protecting civilian.....that airstrike on ground Asset. ......
to check on Aircraft involved........

dream on. The Saudi are more concern with Shia dominating the Arab and the West are more concern with extremist getting an expansion in the region. So long as both groups ensure that No Shia and No extremist get into the region....both the Sunni Arab league and the West will continue to cohabitate in the same policies. The Jewish simply get behind the line of status quo.
As for Oil......think the chinese are concern with their contract and want a stable oil price.
So for the sake of Chinese interest Lets hope this will end quick and fast. Send Gadhafi.......to Venezuela and drink Tequlia with Hugo Chavez....
By the way March 19 was also the start of War in Iraq.....under the pretext of UN resolution 1441.

The French planes have hit Libyan tanks and artillery.
And US and Brit cruise missiles have been targeting AA sites...
"The French planes have hit Libyan tanks and artillery"
Yeah they did. Didn't expect them to go that far. Now there is an even bigger mess. A "limited military action"? Has that ever worked? Reminds me of the Vietnam ROEs. Should have just armed the rebels and let them sort out the mess.
arm e rebels?
Taliban
Venezuela, Russia, China and the African Union are among the countries and organizations to come out against the Western attacks in Libya.
Britain, France and the United States launched strikes Saturday against Libya's air defence to help enforce the no-fly order approved by the United Nations and to protect Libyan civilians, the Pentagon said.
But Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez condemned the strikes, claiming the attackers just want Libya's oil.
Chavez, who is close to Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and sharply critical of the U.S., said "they want to seize Libya's oil. The lives of Libya's people don't matter to them at all."
Cuba's Fidel Castro and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, allies of Venezuela, backed Chavez. Russia expressed regret over the attacks, saying the UN Security Council Resolution that authorized the no-fly order was "adopted in haste."
The African Union opposed the military action. It plans to send a delegation to the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Sunday.
In Beijig, China expressed "regret" on Sunday over the attacks. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said China "consistently disagrees with the use of force in international relations" and expressed "regret" over the Saturday attacks.
China was among five countries that abstained from Thursday's vote on the UN resolution to authorize"all necessary measures" to stop Gadhafi.
Libya said Saturday the attacks rendered the UN no-fly resolution invalid.
It asked for an urgent meeting of the Security Council "after the French-American-British aggression against Libya, an independent state member of the United Nations."
Canada is supporting the attacks to protect innocent Libyan civilians, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Saturday.

Well, Gaddafi himself wasn't exactly lacking in a mess.
If it wasn't the hackles that would be raised, I would be betting Mr Obama would have sent a Tomahawk into Gaddafi's teepee (pun intended), as the USA attempted to do decades ago but only succeeded in killing his family members.

.....both the Russian and the Chinese sat at the UN security council..... if they are truly against the no fly zone there would not be a UN security council resolution..........lets get real here and not pretend that they are innocent.............

they don't need to......the coalition simply need to change the balance by bombing the airport, tanks and artillery pcs and armed the revolutionist.
The rest they have to sort it out by themselved. Freedom isn't Free.
Won't be surprised if there are seals/spec forces on the ground directing air strikes on behalf of the "rebels". They did that with the northern alliance in Iraq. Easy to insert specforces when the rebels still control Benghazi.
Will probably work their way west with air support. Just a matter of time before a third puppet govt is set up in the arab world.
Its interesting to consider if the Japanese quake impact on nuclear energy had anything to do with the speed of the decision to go to war.

Gaddhafi wont last another month.... lol...
Him and his cockiness shown to external parties.... Then quickly changing to " We want to let rebels leave peacefully " once no-fly zone implemented..... lolworthy.
Yeah but that leaves another problem. The ground forces. There is still enough of them to wipe out the protesters (I'm not going to call them rebels, they were not territorially aggressive until some "genius" decided on heavy handed diplomacy) unless the UN/US/UK decides on a ground sweep, which they seem reluctant to do. Half ass measures reminds me of Vietnam.
Though sbst is right, bridges need to be built to make sure AQ No 2 don't happen. After the USSR collapsed, AQ was left alone for a long time, giving the impression that the US was just using them.
