Will the next CDF be from the RSAF? The Army and Navy are getting new chiefs. Political appointments and promotions aside, that makes the RSAF CAF the most senior officer of the three branches. LG Neo KH is two years away from the retirement age of 50. RSAF MG Ng Chee Meng is around 43. So he is in a position to take over. If so, he'll be the second RSAF officer to do so.
Well... "retired" generals can be called out of the civil service.
The retirement age for COLs and above is 55.
Most importantly, most chiefs are from the Special Republican Guard.

Calling a retired General to be a CDF? That will be new.

This seems to suggest so:
44-year-old Rear Admiral Chew will be returning to the Administrative Service. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/print/1112307/1/.html
That's the top tier rank and pay scale that fast track civil servants are on. Fast track officers are on the same scale even when on active duty.
Sometimes these officers go on full time scholarships. I'm not sure if they remain on active duty.
I know but there's never the case a retiring officer suddenly returns to become the CDF. CDFs are usually MGs.
My bet is still on the RSAF guy.
All the top appointments are on rotation basis. It is more likely that the CoAF gets rotated out first due to seniority before the CDF post becomes vacant. There are a lot of more juicy private sector jobs that pay $$$.
So far most arms have been represented with the current being the first from guards. The only arm not having contributed a CDF yet is an ex-Navy chief.

yeah but if CAF get pushed out which guy is most senior to take over as CDF? There's no more other MG all the others are of BG rank
True but the RSN is the smallest of all 3 branches
In a short while, one or more of the chiefs will get promoted. All the chief roles are already MG estab level. And once appointed to CDF, just a formality to become LG.
Dun forget scholars get promoted every year.

So you are saying that once the new Navy and Army Chiefs take over they'll be MG and then the Army guy will be LG? My bet is still on the CAF. He's of the right age.
agree.. but a few years down the road, they would recall those retired politicians with MG rank
