That will be a very long war.
Not outright battle but a very long, long, long period of hostility designed to make foreign money and foreigners leave Singapore.
That will give enough time for the US and FPDA to calmly calculate whether Singapore is worth defending. By that time, anyone who can leave will have ample time to leave. Singapore won't be a hub for investments anymore, so won't be so important.
They can do it now, imagine when they are moderately prosperous. They don't need a great military, just a big one. The current one or something like Iran's standard will do.

Indonesia can launch Hamas type war.
1) Launch pirate navy. Raid ships on straits of malacca using small boats arm with anti aircraft guns. Disrupt trade routes to Spore.
2) Launch rocket boats like what Iran did in 1980s to target bigger ships such as oil container ships and ships carrying chemicals.
3) Buy cheap russian submarines. Have 36 of them. Give singapore frigates a headache to hunt them down. Submarines hunt in small wolf packs to destroy singpore trade routes. Submarines oso launch small armada of commandoes to go raid the island
4) Build and enhance Scuds on mobile launchers. Shoot Singapore with Scuds. And when Singapore try to hunt down the mobile launchers, the launchers can be driven to hidden bunkers in Riau, Sumatra and Java.
5) Buy Soviet anti aircraft guns and SAM batteries and radar equipment

It wont happen. Never.
Spore will never go war, even if Indo bend on attacking Spore, our allies will send warships over to Spore, Indo willl get sanction, will get boycott, will get slap across his face.
No way will Indo dare to stage a war with Spore.

I see only point 1 as a possibility

Indonesia has so many islands which are a lot better than singapore, and also more important and valuable things to do rather than wages war on Singapore.

No use defeating Indonesia by military means. If we beat them, we can't pull out otherwise they will become a failed state(s).

it has happened before... remember the confrontation?
as it stands now Indonesia stands little to gain from attacking Singapore, much less engaging in low intensity conflict... can't say the same if political parties change though...

Not sure being all pirate and hunting down civillian merchant traffic is a good idea for indonesia thou... the international community will certainly frown on that especially with a large naval base with American naval vessels sitting around in Changi.
On top of that, in order to carry out the conflict efficently, Indonesia needs sufficent political clout and military organization to do such a thing... they have enough trouble keeping the system from falling apart as it is. At the end of the day, unless there's some really valid reason to go to war, it's not a terribly plausible scenario.

LKY used to work for the Japanese during WWII, go figures. The rich ministers will probably evacuate their families to a safe country while the rest of the sucker NS-men will have to endure horrible and painful deaths.
For a small country like SG, the only defensive option IMO is an all out offensive to destroy the moral of the enemy and deal as much pain as possible to make war against SG not worth it. This may be achieved by going all out to destroying the cities and hometown of their politicians in the shortest time possible; preferably with fearsome technologies than depolyment of expendable NS-personals. I call it the hornet's nest strategy.
However, if the war is the fault of our own politicians, I personally will side with the opponents too, and I hope everyone else would.

Do you understand the military? if you are confident with modern combat assets you? try to look at your position? if indonesia attack you, they will use tactics such as the Nazi blitz to make a surprise attack, they just bomb your area .... then who are you please quickly help you? list of five countries the defense agreement. countries where the closest place to you? not you hate malaysia? malaysia and you hate to criticize, not war!
