No one was hurt.
That was very lucky indeed.
But then wouldnt it be a issue especially during ndp where the fly over a crowded pple watching the parade? What happen if they encounter the same problems?
I already have this feeling especially when I see the helicopter flies over the estates.
so scary indeed if that wil happen.
glad to hear nobody was hurt.
any details of the apache pilot?

No news...but they do a very very good job in landing!
From the eyewitness reports it seems the Apache encountered a systems failure in flight that rendered a return to base not viable. From the spiral flight downwards path taken before the crash landing we can infer that the helicopter was either autorotating after an engine failure (gliding), or had a tail rotor malfunction, rendering forward flight impossible.
The landing was probably not as hard as a crash, but perhaps more of the fact the pilot might have flared the helicopter just before touching down and causing a tailstrike... we can see from the still-extended wheel bogeys and general intactness of the fuselage that the impact to the forward part of the fuselage was somewhat mitigated, perhaps by the tail strike.
It is difficult to infer travel of the aircraft following impact (it might have rolled forward) due to the lack of pictures in the appropriate angle to show ground marks, but if it did then it explains why the tail rotor was found a distance away.
I do not think it's likely that the tail rotor snapped off in flight, the results of such a catastrophic failure is usually such that the aircraft is virtually uncontrollable, and certainly almost impossible to put down with such minimal damage to the forward airframe as indicated in the pictures.
My analysis from the pictures.

IF system failure during NDP. Many people will die> Why? They dun die because the Apache crash on them. They die cause of stomping on each other while running out for their life.
cannot be that bad if its design problem...more like maintenance problem...someone forgot something

I fear for this may happen.
Can the authority assure the public that during ndp, it will be 100% safe from them?
2nd time wor
and heng nia
landed successfully...
Made from USA
Agreed with Spore Ty.
The landing part might tail touch the groud first.
Or it still can travel but wobbly, unable to control it.
Osama was behind the whole thing lah.............since Osama could plan 9/11 from a godforsaken cave in godforsaken Afghanistan..................
the pilots were Al-Qaeda moles.................they were trying to rescue Mas Selemat.................
another 1 to the scrap yard
money will be spend to buy new ones and we are paying
more GST, more tax?

Think still can salvage and repair.
The squadron commander will assign that helicopter to folks he doesn't like and don't want to see them anymore.
The pilot's lucky that our population is not 6.5m or he may very well land on a bangala's head :)
it was a maintenance flight, which means that the chopper probably just came back from some repairs or servicing from previous malfunctions.
FCF [simply, check flight] only got such siasway thing come out...
anw, no way for chopper circuit flying to avoid populated areas?
So far no news...still under investigating.
suddenly everyone is a helicopter tech
ayiah, engine failure, do autorotation, then emergency land lor.
don't forget that the apache is the first in SEA and we don't have the best weather here. everything is still going through acclimatisation.
the super pumas did not having the smoothest of starts either.
people have more knowledge in internet age.thought they say apache swing round n round before landing....means tail rotor problem when up there flying thats why it was so bad until cannot fly back.:)
then i saw all rotor blade still there...so onlly means something called drive shaft had problems or maybe engine to tail shaft has problems thats why broke off n didnt werk no more n thus rotate round n round uncontrollably.
cant be engine drive shaft as engine was designed by the best...so the other shafts like the ones slanted towards the funny tail rotor and other shafts from motor engine ist da problem.
or someone forget to add oil or lubricate bearings...so overheated when flying up there.
Conclusions from a Hitman:
since its not design problem.....not pilot error.....then its maintenance problem.some bearing was overheated after being rotated at high speed...that resulted in it being burnt and seized and exploding apart when in flight....if it isnt engine problems
however if helicopter didnt rotate round n round uncontrollably in sky like black hawk down movie.....and it autorotate without spinning like a top......then its also pilot problem also...autorotation shuld be damn easy.pilot steer too hard until the tail break into 2..toopid pilot..!he should have played more computer games at home.latest ps3 or ps2 games make autoraotaion from helicopter looks like child play.i wonder if they have those helicopter simulation games.
everybody pilots to maintenance people lets do the kee chia dance,.....
think they should have a software to takeover autorotation landing sequence from pilot.all pilot will need to do is monitor wind speed, and his lunch.
the stress level of dyning is too high for the human pilot.ya not supposed to land so hard until tail break off.ya suppose to land it slightly tilted only not land on yer entire tail rotor!i can program a computer unit and software to takeover from pilot in autorotation situation.and most helicopters are balanced with a never tail hitting the ground as desugned from Boeing before they leave the hanger.
just need to know:
wind speed, angle of attack ,rotation of rotor
with this rotation of rotor, the angle of attack will be made in relation for optimum best autorotation landing....and calculating wind speed...it can even cater to autorotating in a hurricane like enviroment even.
Autorotation also needs some altitude to gain some forward speed. Firstly, the pilot must have altitude and time to react. Then, find an open field and orientate the aircraft to approach it.
Didn't know people on the forums dig this kinda emergency landings so much. Wonder if they'd like stories of flame out landings over ridiculous cloud cover?
hey.....look....!!im even more advanced than what USA has.:)
ok....put in altitude as part of inputs too.....it can use the other data to adjust the angle of attack to prevent any aircraft damage from ground.
pilot?what about him???he is too afraid to die n cant judge properly thus damaging the aircraft.best let autorotaion be done by computers who can calculate tons of data without damaging aircraft.wait a minute...best go build an attack chopper!
people in spore are highly advanced n wanna get high on technology.
pilot tilted the aircraft too high.....that why tailed broke up.i thought aircraft was spinning like a top when it landed like black hawk down movie....pilot error too
and they should go put temperature sensors at all bearings to sense rise in temperature.its cheap nowadys.....just connect it to my program and its good to sense abnormalties even.
