In December 2000 the US Army grounded its entire AH-64 Apache helicopter fleet as a precautionary measure, following the discovery of a faulty tail rotor swashplate assembly. Failure of a tailrotor swashplate assembly, which produces yaw control, could result in the loss of an aircraft and crew injuries. The Army ordered an inspection of all 742 AH-64A and D aircraft to locate specific swashplate assemblies identified as being potentially faulty, which would be replaced.
Most likely the swashplate assembly got detached and sliced off the tail section.
From CNA, 2nd forced landing tis year..
In Jan/ Feb got 1x incident
time to buy another 12......
Apache down .....LKY down........symbolic.
Bad feng shui, I say.

I doubt that would ever happen. The tail section clearly separated on/just before touch down. Losing the tail rotor in flight would cause the entire chopper to spin uncontrollably. Lets not speculate on causes until the investigation findings are out.
Anyway, credit to the pilots for making a safe landing. Avoiding all the built up areas and landing without much incident. No matter how much you practice, a real incident can never be compared to a training session. A good testament to the skills and training of the pilots.
Very very lucky that it did not crash into hdb flats.
Good job to the pilots.
From these pictures, doesn't look like the rotor blade got detached.
Thks for the pics.
Was anyone hurt?
