The british army has gone soft.
If the action was not to be condoned, the instructions was clearly not passed down. I see it as more a failure of command than of the action of the soldier.
What is evident is that after decades of operating with the Gurkha, the british army still does not know how its own gurkhas operate.
It comes after a long list of not understanding foreign cultures eg cremating bodies etc.
And its not as if the Taliban don't do it...and worse, they do it when the person is alive.

Somebody got to buy the Gurkhas digital cameras..
I support the Gurkha soldier who did the beheading
The Taliban do not deserve any humane treatment at all

Do not glorify barbaric behaviour, it will only add more cowardice points into the hearts of all civilised villians.
How come I don't see you cheering on your local chicken rice seller with your poms-poms? I'm sure he/she have also beheaded many chicken heads on a daily basis.
Don't tell me you respected those Taliban rebels as humans and they are not in the same category as animals?
I dint read all. But if that gurkha just beheaded that taliban without a trial or anything, his no different from him
Maybe the Gurkha used to be a taliban rice seller back in Nepal.
$3.50 for one packet of taliban rice, more heads please~
gurkha too free....got no other jobs to do.
can i employ him as my personal security guard?
beheading has been going on for century....WWII Japanese did it. Chinese did it in. it is internet that bring the world to sees it globally for the first time.
The Taliban probably has the patent for that on youtude.....

As per usual, Parnie has not read my post properly
I agree. The Ghurka soldier should not be punished for his actions. He came up with the simplest solution under fire. Just too bad for the Taliban for picking a fight against a team who has enlisted the aid of Ghurka soldiers.
The Ghurkas have nothing to prove by beheading people. Their reputation for being one of the fiercest fighters already precedes them.

what parnie's trying to say is two wrong dosen't mean a right?
taliban may have done evil things to us , but if we do the same to them. Are we any different from the talibans?
That's whart u call dealing evil with evil
pay them back with a heavy hand, no mercy

If thats the case, then okay no comments. They are doing what they need to do anyway. But it would be better if he dint cut his head off. Thats basic respect to a dead person
Yeah, it would be better. But it would be best to keep himself alive to complete the mission as well. =D

Don't forget about the hundreds of civilian non-combatants who've been beheaded, or otherwise brutalized, by the Taliban and their terrorist counterparts. That Ghurka is a fine soldier, but it's a shame the "hearts and minds" politically correct crap has to trump his admirable deed.

Meh. Can Photoshop produce a severed head out of your bag?
Another Gurkha myth.
In has become so, that at the Falkland Campaign, the Argentinians were fearfull of one word, Gurkhas.
The word spread, that if you wake up in the morning and your head drop off, the Gurkhas has been there.
The Gurkhas are well trained by the British, they would not do what the British themselves would not do. Anyway they are always led by Ang Moh officers on missions.
