Hey, pardon me but ive a few questions.
Is air force better than being in Infantry and all that?
How are people from BMT choosen to get into Airforce?
Whats the diff between air force officer & land officer?
Air force have a higher pay ..
The airforce officer gets to see different types of airplanes, helicopters and missiles. Whereas the army officer gets to see troops, arms and vehicles.

When an army officer falls, he stands up and walk again.
When an airforce officer falls, he may never stand up again.

u r funny............
nsf pay is all determined by rank and vocation la..airforce only few vocations gets combat allowance..but airforce is more on operations and exercises especially if you get posted to flying squadrons..
wot do you mean by ADA or FDS shotgun???
nsf... can tell me about them too..
fyi, i havnt even had my BMT yet, so im just finding out all these vocations la.
RSN?

ADA = Air Defense Artillery
The guys that employ weapons such as missiles or anti-aircraft guns to shoot down enemy (hopefully) planes. Some of the less luckier ones get attached to armored units or infantry units to provide anti-aircraft cover for them. Which means, they go outfield together with armor or infantry. Some luckier ones... man radar systems, sit in front of a terminal in some air-con structure.
FDS = Field Defense Squadron
The Air Force's own infantry guys. They are trained to guard / defend the airbase against ground incursions. Probably not as much outfield as the Army's infantry guys, but still a lot of chionging here n there.
My advice, if u wanna sign on air force, sign on as a pilot or flying wso. Anything that doesn't fly doesn't really help you "fly"... Sad to say.
thanks shotgun for the info.
i reckon, pilots is a awesome job & all, but its all abt split-sec decisions. sometimes the pressure they're under is tremendous and their split second decisions may make em or break em. I thought about being a pilot and all, but its more of a want, not a need to. So, I'm more interested in other vocations in Airforce.
Anyway, I just got to head to Hendon camp in a few days time for vocational assessment.
sigh*
anyway no one really knows how to get inside the airforce as a nsf from bmt.. but i will think the iq test u did for ur med checkup has prob alot to do with it..
Okay, the blatant and complete truth is that...posting is almost completely random and according to manpower needs.
It doesn't mean you're 'smarter' you end up in airforce, etc. No such thing...I've seen smart and dumb people across all units...and I've worked across division, brigade, training, battalion, schools in SAF.
If you're talking about differences between airforce and army officer, its an entirely different story. Army officers need to be proficient in both equipment and the leadership to lead a platoon of men into combat, their safety etc.
Air force officers go through the textbook stuff, but doesn't need to go through the real works....neither do they get involved in army exercises.
In any case, u mind telling us your age? Cause u refer the army as 'land', as though NCC land.
hi merkava4
erm, im old enuf, just finishing my poly. 20 infact. well, my interests have always been in aerospace related activities. so, that is why i was concerned to find out more about air force.
You... sign on...
