Himars alone will not change the landscape of war.U need good sensors and shooters
and good command and control sys to combine all stuff together.
In today ST,(nvm u dunt believe) ,US army Chief of Field Artillery, BG Ross Ridge, told reporters " not too many militaries in the world can pull off such sophisticated and complex operations...SG is certanily in the world's top 10 militaries."
U may wander why SG wait so long to buy mutlipe launchers rocket ,after few years than MY.
Political concern is one factor.SG is always latter than MY to buy similiar platforms ,like MLRS, subs, jet fighters.
Technology is more important. there is no point to buy unguided MLRS which , i assume MY's unguided, MY bought fr Brazil.if u fire unguided, u just go back to WW2 era!!

FORT SILL (Oklahoma) - A NEW rocket artillery weapon system acquired by
the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) to give its ground troops greater
reach and firepower went into action on Tuesday.
The US-made M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or Himars, was
fired for the first time as part of the Forging Sabre war games being
carried out in the rugged scrublands of Fort Sill in Oklahoma, in the
United States.
The SAF is training on US-supplied hardware for now, and will take
delivery of the first of 18 Himars it purchased by the middle of next
year.
Tuesday's live-firing exercise comes eight months after troops from the
23rd Battalion Singapore Artillery (23 SA) first started training on
the new weapon.
Mounted on a truck are six rockets, with each warhead packing 644
armour-piercing bomblets. Firing a salvo of all six rockets would rain
about 3,800 bomblets over targets 70km away.
Guided by a Global Positioning System, the rockets are more accurate
and powerful than the current big guns in the SAF - the 155mm artillery
guns and 120mm mortars.

HIMARS is C-130 transportable and can be deployed into areas previously inaccessible to heavier launchers.
I think Himars is mainly for anti-armoured

Can ST Eng make the bomblets in Himars, when ST can make bomblets in 155 rounds?.
