Here are some images taken last weekend at our gun club's annual Deer Rifle Sight-In event, during which members of the public can pay a small fee and use our club's range facilities to sight-in their rifles in preparation for the upcoming deer hunting season. I was one of the range safety officers that day and managed to snap these images.
Hi Meia
nothing beats the 7.62x39mm for a deer gun !I usually hunt with my AK but of course with a 5 rd mag! Again! our deer in Texas is not really that big ! maybe the size of a big dog! .... somtimes I do it with 5.56 with a 55 grain Amax Hornady bullet!

Hey, Dave!
What kind of accuracy were you getting out of your AK? Was it scoped?
The guy in the image above who brought the scoped AK to the sight-in was having a hell of a time trying to get it zeroed at 100 yards. We moved him to the 50-yard line and holes finally started appearing on the target sheet. Then we got into the whole discussion about the accuracy vs. reliability issue with AKs and tried to convince him that it might be an exercise in futility to attempt to achieve match-grade accuracy with his gun.
HI Meia, Looking at the guy for on AK in your photo , the scope position is way too high! and you do not have a proper cheek position, thus giving inconsistant hits if you do not put your cheek at the right time. for the scope setup you will need a cheek raise . I could not setup any of my AK with scope effectively.
I use to mount a 4x East German scope setup on my AK74 in 5.45 and I still have to put the cheek raise to hit consistant ! but the 5.45 I could achive much better accuracy, 1.75" is quite common with Russian banaul 60 grain ammo. that is on a custom built Bulgarian AK74 kit on a Arsenal 1.5mm receiver.
I have mine setup with a Kvar type Picatinny rail and I mount a holographic EOtech on mine. it will do up to 300 yds no problem! AK do not have the best Accuracy! mine would do 2.5 " @ 100 yds with wolf or any Russkie ammo. this is on a Early import ROmmaniun Stamp receiver AKM or they call it SAR-1 at one time.
