  3. CABUGAO, Ilocos Sur (12 January) — Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle and Ilocos Sur Governor Luis Chavit Singson unveiled formally the historical monument of Sakada at Port Salomague, this town recently.

The 200 - member of Hawaiian delegation and hundreds of Ilocos residents witnessed the memorable event as part of the centennial celebration of the migration of the first 15 Filipino - Ilocano who arrived in Hawaii on December 20, 1906 boarded the SS Doric shipping sea vessel that docked from Port of Manila.
  5. The visit of Governor Lingle in Ilocos Sur opened the doors for job opportunities to Ilocano nurses in support to the 10-point agenda of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of creating 6-10 million jobs in 2010. A letter of understanding on nursing exchange education between the University of Hawaii (UH) and University of Northern Philippines (UNP) will be formally signed to start the project.
