I am sad that zaobao and Strait Times did not report this new stuff from Spore Technology.
Our fren in north is more rager to report.wat a F!!
开路先锋 is a very good translation!!
2.SAF guys in AOH said this new vehicle is to clear a lane of
3.2 meter width.
3.This new product is a smaller version of SAF Mine Clearing Vehicle
provided in 2005..
Mine Clearing Vehicle--nobody care!!
4.Does the following refer to TrailBlazer ?Read in reference for sources.
The SAF, DSTA and
Singapore Technologies Kinetics have jointly
developed and built a Tracked Mine Flail which
offers more protection to the crew and
exceptional mobility performance over other
commercial off-the-shelf mine clearing vehicles.
The Tracked Mine Flail features a fully
automatic deployable flail system and the
world’s first hydrostatic tank transmission for
both creep and normal mobility.

The Trailblazer--
A Class of its Own
All Terrain Capability
While most armoured CMVs worldwide cannot operate on
undulating ground, the Trailblazer is able to traverse through
any terrain because it was built on the Bionix chassis. COL Ng
added, “Let’s put it this way – wherever you can plant the mine,
the Trailblazer can clear it.”

''Mine Flails
Mine flails were also first developed for military
applications and were famously used in WWII
where they were fitted on Sherman tanks. The
Sherman tank flails are known to be very
effective and played an integral role in the
initial shore invasion in Normandy.
With the growth of humanitarian demining
in the 1990s, flail systems were developed to
meet the demand for tools against mines and
small UXOs. In the Singapore Armed Forces
(SAF), the Hydrema MCV 910 Series 2 has been
in service since 2005. The SAF, DSTA and
Singapore Technologies Kinetics have jointly
developed and built a Tracked Mine Flail which
offers more protection to the crew and
exceptional mobility performance over other
commercial off-the-shelf mine clearing vehicles.
The Tracked Mine Flail features a fully
automatic deployable flail system and the
world’s first hydrostatic tank transmission for
both creep and normal mobility.
Conceptually, most flail systems utilise the same
concept: a drive system, an extended arm, a
rotating drum and chains with weights at the
ends to provide the pounding force. The force
of the swinging hammer is transferred onto
the ground upon impact. It is this same impact
force that either causes the mine to detonate
or shatter.
Each flail system is different in terms of clearing
speed, clearing depth, survivability and clearing
effectiveness. The next section will cover an
in-depth discussion of the design considerations
for mine flail systems.

Go subscribe to Army News or Pioneer mag if u are so interested. Straits Times got better news than stuff like this.
I wonder if there will be a boat launched version... Hmmm..

Under wraps at ST Marine, and it floats too :)
On the new Trail Blazer report, the Malaysian Chinese vernacular press seems to be blowing the horns of the various industrial-military developments for the SAF, it is a surprise that the Malay, English and Tamil newspapers are largely silent and do not mention a paragraph - even in the form of a translation from their sister press.
Some Malaysians take pride in what an independent Singapore has accomplished, as they know that some from amongst their midst have contributed to the local efforts here.
On a side note, while the Trail Blazer maybe good at clearing mines up ahead, how good is it being protected from a roadside IDE ?
Considering that the Lebanese Prime Minister was killed while travelling in an armored vehicle encasing him and supposed to be protecting him, it had created a tomb for those occupants due to the ‘explosive blast effects’.
An IED can be built to defeat any armored vehicle. Even a Merkava is not immune let alone the Trail Blazer.
old tech stuff ....ww2 kidsstuff at normandy..............:nothin new...its like reinventing a wheel. actually farm machinery can also do same job....just put in new attachm, ent vehicle n there u have it.or get those guys from mythbusters to make farm machinery with no driver.
something is really not exactly moving at spore kinetics.....it looks as if they are making just fer sake of making.
If same logic is applied to other vehicles, who needs APCs when everyone has buses, who needs 3/5 tonners when there’s commercial trucks. Just put a bit of armour in them.
Seen any farms in SG that require plowing lately? Really an abundance of farm machinery.
Thankfully, we have people who actually can think and live in SG, as decision makers in the saf and the defence industries.
This is not kidsstuff.
It is actually quite impressive that Singapore can come up with its own specialized hardware. The equipment being churned out seems to be getting better eg FH88,FH2000,Pegasus, Bronco,Terrex............40 mm AGL ammo.............
