  PCG gets Typhoon 25 mm Naval Gun "to patrol the waters off Pedra Branca"

  The new Shark Class of Singapore Police Coast Guard Patrol boat get

  Typhoon MK 25 25 mm naval stabalized gun and one to two MG!!

  The fire power is similiar to Australia

  (HMAS) Armidale class Patrol Boats!!

  Three vessels are currently in service and the rest will become operational by next year. They will also be used to patrol the waters off Pedra Branca.

  Another new feature on board is the Typhoon MK 25 II 25mm gun - the highest calibre in the Singapore Police Force - which is controlled remotely in the vessel's bridge. It is able to hit a target 2.7km away.

  THE NEW GENERATION

  It is 35m long, has a maximum speed of 65kmh and uses three water jets for propulsion.

  It can carry up to 35 men, but needs only 14 to operate.

  Its Typhoon 25mm Stabilised Naval Gun System is remotely controlled using cameras to transmit live images to the vessel's bridge, where targeting and firing are carried out.

  Charts are displayed electronically on a computer screen.

  It can stay out at sea for three days while travelling at a constant speed of 37kmh without refuelling.

  THE OLD GENERATION

  It is 23m long, has a maximum speed of 37kmh and uses two propellers for propulsion.

  It can carry up to 20 men, but needs 14 to operate.

  Firing of its 20mm Oerlikon main gun is done manually.

  Paper charts are used for navigation.

  It can stay out at sea for two days while travelling at a constant speed of 37kmh without refuelling.

  Nothing is ever too hard-core for counter-piracy ops.

  It is a good thing to beef up our PCG, because by improving their capability for home waters patrol and deterrance, we can free up the RSN for more substantial duties at greater distances from home.

  If I recall, lionnoisy was making a lot of noise some time back about how he thinks 25mm autocannons were a bad choice for any patrol boat... because the Armidale used them.

  I am not here to compare which country is more powerful than other countries.

  Just to state the facts.

  US CG is one of the 5 armed forces in USA!No wander US CG cutters looks

  like naval combat ships!!The weapons fit the roles,not the other way round!!

  If u have more powerful weapons,u can  extend your roles when situation

  require.So,before i know the roles of Oz PB,i am suprised that

  a ocean going boat of 42 days endurances only get the 25 mm Typhoon.

  Now,i understand their roles is NOT for naval combat.

  In addition to abt 10  combatants on station in oz fleet ,

  there are abt 10 Patrol Boats sail in any day.

  The reasons of small no. of ships are many are sitting on docks

  for upgrading or get well programmes.

  Lionnoisy created a clone called "makepeace" which he used in speakers corner to further his own agenda, trying to give people the impression that there are others out there that would agree with him.

  Unfortunately he did a very poor job of hiding it.

  This kind of behaviour is called sockpuppeting, ie. creating a false online identity to praise, defend or create the illusion of support for one’s self, allies or company.

   

  A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception within an Internet community. In its earliest usage, a sockpuppet was a false identity through which a member of an Internet community speaks while pretending not to, like a puppeteer manipulating a hand puppet.^[1]

  In current usage, the perception of the term has been extended beyond second identities of people who already post in a forum to include other uses of misleading online identities. For example, a NY Times article claims that "sock-puppeting" is defined as "the act of creating a fake online identity to praise, defend or create the illusion of support for one’s self, allies or company."^[2]

  To "flame wars" and "phishing" we can now add "sock puppet."   After making some lame and hasty excuse about his account being hacked, lionnoisy suddenly abandoned all this threads in which him being sockpuppeting was being mentioned. Unfortunately his excuse cannot stand up to logic as he was seen responding to and talking back TO HIS OWN ACCOUNT.

  Note that other then for the user name, this post is virtually indistinguishable from the countless of other lionnoisy posts we can compare it with. The excessive reliance on the media, posting of hyperlinks, using warped logic that takes issues out of their context, and most tellingly the horrible english which make typos and grammatical errors right down to what lionnoisy would EXACTLY make is exactly what you'd expect from lionnoisy.

  Hence lionnoisy must have been someone disappointed because after 20 minutes still nobody bothered to reply to his post under makepeace. Hence he decided to bump his own thread.

  Note the bad acting, where he pretended to be "excited" and "surprised" about what he wrote himself.

  Now this is the funny part, if his account was really hacked as he claimed it to be, he would certainly not be replying back to his "hacked" account so happily in such a way.

  But in any case when he was exposed he made this very funny, frantic and desperate post trying to suddenly divorce himself from the actions of his sockpuppetry by claiming he was hacked. Unfortunately all a basic look at the thread will reveal what really happened, and that is nothing other then lionnoisy was caught red-handed sockpuppeting.

  At 3.04pm, the RSS Independence was near Pedra Branca when it hit an underwater object and sustained damage to its hull.

  A Mindef statement said the crew carried out damage control measures.

  After further inspection to ensure it was safe, the RSS Independence is returning to base.

  SG,as small as a ping pong ball,are defended by 23 surface combatants and

  4 subs.

  Oz,as big as a soccer field , if u compare with SG,are defended by14

  surface combatants and 6 subs.

  I am talking abt the establishments.I am not talking abt

  the stuff which can really sail to seas,not to mention really can

  fight a war.For example,there are only 3 crews for oz subs.So,

  ususally,only 2 subs can sail in anytime.This is well known that

  If I recall, you accused me of criminally hacking your account to make you post as your clone, additionally you "called" for the help of the authorities to arrest me. Do you know that falsely accusing another person is a criminal offence?

  The longer you don't want to answer, the longer you will drag this. The longer you drag this the more people will know, eventually if I get bored enough of waiting for you to answer, I guess I could just report you.
