new gears are here.I dunt think SAF should reveal so much details
of the gears.This is wrong.
For example, the heights of the ramps should kept secret.
The ramp can give two platforms to reach 2 different height at the same time.

height anyone also can measure.

These data here are not "secret". And you can't keep them secret even if you wanted to, so why waste the time trying to do so when some military enthusiast is going to find out anyway.
It is the real classified units like AFPN1516, HERMES that should be kept secret. Maybe 203SQN too.
branding isn't the point, getting the job done is dude...
Because SAS is british and SEAL is american.
NDU and SOF is singaporean.
They are similar, but yet different in many ways also.
Culture wise, people who have been there done that should know.
SALT.
In fact it is better to be covert and without a established name.
any event required their needs will have better effect. Enemy will not anticipate.

Kids, please don't say nonsense such as SAS,SEALs,Delta are better than this unit.
And Col Lam is the best commander I ever had in my SAF experience.

imo, debating about which unit or organisation is better is just plain stupid.

Well i think ultra compartmentalized to keep them from public. They are in the background, shadow group. We don't advertised them. They successfully carry out their mission and no effect on the civilian population.

You're not helping to keep it secret by posting all of it here.
As spoken before, i suspect this is more of a SOF-SWG rather than to a SOF-NDU integration ...
you know what i don't like about these crack units? some people train all their lives but never get to go on a mission
btw, is there a singapore equivalent to Rio's BOPE unit? don't tell me STARs unit...
Did you read up more on the circumstances that BOPE was formed to deal with?
Policing is a thing that evolves with the community.
Rio's slums and favelas filled with armed criminals/narcos and high crime rates are a huge contrast to the relatively crime free HDB dwellings of Singapore.
STAR team is part of the Special Operations Command which includes the Police Tactical Unit.
The PTU troopers ride along in the "ang chias" that you see. They have evolved to more smaller and mobile units travelling in the TTVs compared to the past when they travelled in buses.
They are the closest you can get to BOPE in terms of structure and purpose. But you have to note that policing in singapore is totally different from policing the favelas of Rio. The theatre of operation is different, the threats are also different.
Which means the way they operate are also different.
