A$6 b for 24 Super Hornet aircraft,service & support over 10 yrs:RAAF
This batch is just a interim platforms to fill the gap of reirement of F111 and
delivery of the JSF at a unknown date.
It was said it will be sent to Afgan!!
2.Unbelieveable!!
Boeing Super Hornet program manager Mike Gibbons says this aircraft ranks with JSF and the F-22 Raptor as the world's premier combat aircraft.
If this is the case, then all the development teams of JSF and F22 shall be fired,
after spending billions of dollars in development!!

The generation gap: Australia and the Super Hornet by Andrew Davies
13 February 2007
I've always been critical of the super hornet as a flying dump truck. But as they became operational, I've begun to see some merits beyond just flight performance.
Firstly, they do integrate well into a western-centric warfare system. Arguably, more Super Hornets have seen combat than the current generation of F-15Es. At the tip of the US Military's spear, Super Hornets will continually be combat tested, which allows for more refinements.
Secondly, its the next other aircraft that has surpassed what the F-16 has set to be a multi-role benchmark. Its the only serious multi-role aircraft I know at the moment that has a jammer variant, and can in-flight refuel other aircraft.
The F/A-18E/F is one serious jack of all trades while packing a serious punch and leaving a small logistics footprint. Heck, I'm just waiting to see if the Super Hornets can take over the role of the S-3 vikings in anti-submarine warfare, or heck even AEW.
The F/A-18's already impressive pitch authority is further augmented in the E/F model...
It can do stuff that usually only those with thrust-vectors could do. I always enjoy watching the Super Hornet's demos....

The High Alpha (angle of attack) Research Vehicle was a modified F/A-18 Hornet used by NASA in a 3-phase program investigating controlled flight at high angles of attack using thrust vectoring, modifications to the flight controls, and forebody strakes.
