the ultimax is not in the final 4.
Read that article.
So the USMC is going for IAR w/ 30rds instead of SAW w/ 200rds?
Can understand the troops' concern for reduced fire support.
Being a SAW gunner during my NSF days, I'd say a SAW using a 30rds mag can provide maybe 1 minute of supporting/covering fire? (provided no IA....)
THINK usa army might be holding this kinda affair every year tryin to see whats new on market,,,,,something like how a pasar malam might mean to us.
anyway ultimax was rejected and the fn -usa minimac belgium company got the weapons contract instead many many years ago.
think usa army isnt serious about getting machineguns.
anyway the feedback in past from usa and some people in europe testing it said ultimax looked crappy.probably the ultimax lacks refinement in its components.it looks like something made in a workshed with its rough and crude components and charging handle...nuts n bolts......the angmo wants weapons dat look like a porsche..they dun want it to look like a made in china or india car!this is peace time so adjust as it is for the workmanship...just adjust it to crude fabrication during war time for ease of production!
think refinements needs to be done in ST kinetics if it is also serious in marketting its weapons..

Tx.There are 4 compaines get it NOW!!But does it mean ULTIMAX is out?
I am not sure.

How long SCAR is in the market and wat are the performances of this
SCAR IAR?Is it just a new product?
.But i cant find IAR from FH Herstal site.
can u tell me which is the winner IAR from FN web site here?
http://www.fnherstal.com/index.php?id=541
2.But i am doubt if one rifle can be best used as personal rifle and SAW!!

FN IAR Description
The FN IAR is a unique, shoulder-fired, short stroke gas piston, highly-adaptable, modular select fire weapon system that fills the roles of both individual battle rifle and squad automatic rifle in one light, compact package.
3.Wat Marines is doing by asking few companies to supply many samples?
Marines is not just asking few samples to a dozens of samples.
I think Marines are asking in the no. of hundred, becos the contracts of each
company worth over US$10 million.
http://www.defenselink.mil/contracts/contract.aspx?contractid=3928
FN Herstal, S.A., Herstal, Belgium--up to US 27.9 m
Heckler and Koch Defense, Inc., Ashburn, Va.---up to $23.60 m
Colt Defense, Inc.,---up to $14 m or 28 m.There are 2 contracts no.
but same name of COLT.
i am not sure one or two contracts awarded to COLT.

Does this mean other rilfe, like ULTIMAX is out of this tender?
4.The trick to favour your fren and kick some one out
In any tender process, there are PUSH and PULL tactics
to help your fren in but kick some one u dunt like out!!
PUSH---How to push your fren in?
...........u just impose some requirement that ONLY your fren possess.
...............For example,Oz just set the maximum weight of light weight Howitzer
,...............at say 4700 kg.This rule just make M777 the only candidate
............for Oz LW Howitzer!!
PULL-----how to pull some put?On the other hand,u can lift some special
...............requirement which only the one u dunt like possess.
.....................In this Marines IAR tender,I was told that the 100 round
...........magazine requirement was lifted. This make few more
...................SAW can join the fun.U know 100 rounds magazine
...............is a well known feature of ULTIMAX.!!

''Early in the evaluation process, the Corps’ requirement called for the IAR to use 100-round magazines. That was eventually eliminated in favor of using 30-round magazines.''

TO LIONNOISY:
I DUN THINK FRIENDSHIP THINK WERKSW FOR CONTRACT BIDDING IN USA.HAVE U TAKEN A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ULTIMAX....LOOK AT THE NUT N BOLTS...BIPOD..THE HANDLE...ETC. MAY LOOK SUPERB FROM AFAR BUT AMERICANS LOVE GERMAN CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH THEIR WEAPONS.
EVEN IF U PAID USA MARINES TO BUY YER GUNS ALSO THEY WONT BUY IT!THEY GOT A MILLIION GUNS IN USA N BUYIN ANOTHER ONE IS NOT IN THEIR MIND.THEY WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT N BETTER.....SOMETHING EXCITING.THE ULTIMAX CURRENTLY HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO THE POINT THAT IT SHOULD BE PAINTED PINK INSTEAD OF BLUE.I LOVE THE ORIGINAL ULTIMAX WITH ITS DRUM MAGAZINE BUT AMERICANS WANT BETTER CRAFTSMANSHIP N DURABILITY AS WELL AS SOLID,SAFE N SOUND DESIGN.
IN FACT THEY WOULD RATHER HAVE A SHOULDER MOUNTED ARTILERY CANNON LIKE FROM PREDATOR FILM THAN BUY SOME BORING MACHINE GUN SAW RUBBISH.
Sorry to disappoint you guys, the Ultimax 100 did not make the short list. Yes we got chopped.

Hi Terminator2000,
So which German small arms do the US Marines love in ...... " BUT AMERICANS LOVE GERMAN CRAFTSMANSHIP WITH THEIR WEAPONS" ???
TO SEPECAT:
LIKE BACK IN DDAY...AMERICAN TROOPS LOVED THE MP38SUBMACHINEGUN N OFTEN COLLECTED THEM IN FAVOUR OF THEIR OWN ISSUED WEAPONS.
THE HECKLER N KOCH IN MOST US CULTURE..........THEY EVEN PAID ROYALTIES FOR GERMAN RIFLE DESIGNS BACK IN WW1.
AS WELL AS THEIR AIRCRAFT PARTNERS BEFORE WW2.EVEN THE M16 MAGAZINE CARTCH N M70DESIGNS WERE GERMAN BASED DESIGN.
WOULD COMMENT MORE IN TIME.
Hi Terminator2000,
Your more than 65 year old example of US troops love for the MP38 is heart warming.
Your 100 year old example of US paying royalties for German designed rifles is amazing - please enlighten us which designs were those for.
I really do not understand your statement regarding US culture and H&K and I wud love to hear what you have to say about this relationship.
WW2 aircraft partners & M16 magazine catches don't seem to be related - maybe I am wrong ; please do explain.
I also guess everyone will be looking forward with great anticipation to your upcoming comments.
eh???wheres my long reply?
TO SEPECAT;
TO SUMMARISE the lost message>>>>make sure your product sells...u wont like your brand new lcd tv to come with cheap looking buttons or knobs would u??
the same goes fer weapons,,,,,,,,,be it israelis....south koreans ....italians..germans.
its simple logic to tell u the truth.
Terminator2000
You completely failed to substantiate any of your previous comments. You have no relevant example to draw from other than a LCD TV to make your case ?
Your naivete is clearly evident in your statement "..make sure your product sells.."
The truth is in fact not simple ! But your logic & thinking is.
to sepecat:
what do u mean no examples??its in the history books or the internet.why do u need me to spoonfeed u everything??are u working for a military industry making weapons?i hope not!wont last long if they had people like u!
ok...from what i gathered from yer reply is that u are not into designs or brilliant innovative ideas.every thing HAS TO BE SIMPLE!THE TRUTH IS SIMPLE...ITS THE STUPID PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT SOOOO COMPLICATED AND END UP WITH AN UNSELLABLE PRODUCT.WHEN ARE U GETTING RETRENCHED?
SURF THE INTERNET OR READ MORE BOOKS WILL U?
To tERMINATOR20000000000000................
What happened ? You had a short circuit ? You cant even get your call sign right.
Your wild rantings & lack of any material or examples to back up what you have said only add clearly to the fact that what you stated earlier is rubbish.
Sorry, but you need to spoonfeed yourself first ( with facts to substantiate what you stated ) before you can spoonfeed others. I am still waiting for you.
You are truly naive to think that everything is so simple. Heh , how old are u anyway ?
OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE SEX
Hah ! No wonder we get these kinds of responses from u. You are not thinking with your brain..........
to sepecAT:
NOT BAD FOR ME IF I CAN GET RESULTS WITHOUT EVEN REALLY THINKIN....IM REALLY A GENIUS..TYPIN AND SIPPING DRINKS AND READING OTHER STUFF ALL AT SAME TIME.
Your reply says it all about who & what you are. Very best of luck to the Genius !
and the "idiot of the week" award goes to lion for this gem,,,
.There are 4 compaines get it NOW!! But does it mean ULTIMAX is out?
