It seems like US and ROK forces have been upgraded to Alert level 2 in light of increased North Korean recon and intelligence gathering activities. China too is unhappy with DPRK and has harshly rebuked DPRK with little effect. http://www.theage.com.au/world/north-korea-threat-lifts-region-alert-level-20090528-boxy.html

A relics of the cold war.
Its a messy outcome, if i were in his shoes this is what i will see......
1) i was born into this shit.
2) Russia the protector no longer Communist (they gave up) ; except China, but i don't really trust the motive of china relationship with the US.
3) What are we doing here in the state of war? (no shot fire for a long time)
4) I look at all my emotionally hysterical military general and citizens if i call it quit all the decades of repression and hope on KIM's dream is destroy. There will be mass sucide.
5) So i pretend to be A leader.
NK don't need Weapon they need Shrinks.....
Looks like both side are still stepping up........
LA Times....
Reporting from Singapore -- Drawing the most explicit U.S. line yet on North Korea, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates vowed that the Obama administration would hold North Korea "fully accountable" if it sold or transferred any nuclear material outside its borders.
Gates sketched the framework of a new administration policy by saying that though a nuclear-armed North Korea is unacceptable, any step it takes to spread the technology would invite the swiftest and most forceful U.S. response.
Reuters.....
North Korea is preparing to move an intercontinental ballistic missile from a factory near Pyongyang to a launch site on the east coast, a South Korean newspaper quoted a source in Washington as saying on Saturday.
SO WHAT NOW???THE NORTH KOREANS WANT THE SOUTH KOREANS TO MOVE MISSILES FOR THEM??OR DO THEY WANT INTERNATIONAL AID TO MOVE MISSILES?

Kim says North Korea has long maintained one of the largest armies in the world - with more than one million active-duty troops.
"So, when we consider the total size of North Korean population, slightly over 20 million, North Korea has over seven million regular troops and reserve forces," Kim said. "This is the reason why they call North Korea a barracks country."
Ah Kim basically needs fuel for its equipments and feed its people so that they can continue to prepare a state of readiness.....keep the 7 million soldier working.
The cycle continue....

To be honest they can threaten till the cows come home... The South is more worried for its economy than listening to the North's continous rants and provocations.
this brinkmanship will go on and on, partly encouraged by china as they like this wild dog at their backyard barking at everyone else.
