Body Armor -Has Army purchased yet ?

  Recall that  sometime back that there was tender or mention that SAF will purchase / introduce body armor for all combat soldiers. Anyone with news on this ?

  I think it is still on trial or something. I think on the latest issue of Army News, Its front cover did show a soldier (if i remember correctly, at the 11 o'clock position or somewhere) of the new integrated body armour...

  Actually they already had introduced body armour for everyone, it can only be fitted for those units who're using the load bearing vests.

  There is supposed to be an improved version from the earlier generation before they formally announce and introduce force wide.

  intelligenceman  ,   When you say everyone you mean only those in combat vocations and in the combat units who have LBVs  right   ? 

  When you say "earlier generation",  do you mean the  1 st generation of the body armor which was recently introduced   ?   And they are going to supply an " improved version "  of this   force wide  ?

  SAF already have plate carriers. But it is olive green in colour with MOLLE strips to mount magazine pouches. I remember being issued one during Alert Red and we wear the SBO over it. I think TS is refering to the new camo version of the plate carrier with neck guard and crotch protection. That i dont know.

  Hm. If you say this new body armor is the old LBV that everyone is using, then I can tell you that it looks exactly the same like the BPV, aka bullet proof vest...only difference is that it has the digital camo on it.

  I saw this because my unit was preparing for some parade; either armour 40th anniverary or SAF day parade. What my friend told me was it's not in SAF inventory yet.
