Went down to CMPB today and had a chat with the people over there regarding re-enlisting as an officer after my degree.I was told that essentially they won't let you go to OCS if you were an enlistee during your NS, irregardless of other criteria.
Any confirmation on this or otherwise as I've heard stories though all of them unconfirmed about some people who re-enlist after gaining a degree and going on to have satisfying careers in the army.
Surely hard times cannot be so bad that you may end up having to live with a decision that you may regret the rest of your Life - even if your re-enlistment is for a short term contract.
The World is much bigger than just this small Red Dot.
It's more a personal matter I don't wish to go into but I've been quite 'eager' to join the SAF for some time. Not scholarship related or anything of that sort.If it's money then I'd join some place in the private secotr where my pay scales up much faster.I simply enjoy the army life and then some other things.
But I do thank you for the concern about my decision.I just need some info on whether or not a former enlistee with a degree can sign up as an officer.
Join the US Marines. You get to actually see action!
still can!
CPT(DR)!!
6 Years of Medicine just to enlist with SAF.... you're kidding right?
during your BMT, you will need to reach certain standard to be able to go OCS. If you sign on during your BMT, people will sort of help you and make sure you can go OCS, unless you really cannot make it that kind.
now you ORD le, they will have to flip through that record to see if you were able to reach that standard in your NS life...
When I was in BMT, there was this VJC guy, super nerd...even outfield he bring thick books for Uni course to study....he applied to be an officer to sign on...
kena rejected...too nerd, totally cannot make it lousy...so its not true that they only look at paper....if cannot lead, they can't send him to OCS also.
To re-enlist as officer, I think u must at least have been a specialist before, and fulfil criterias to be an officer, then they can send you to OCS if u're fit and able to be one.
If you were an enlistee, you can at most re-enlist as specialist.
Anyway, no bonds or scholarship for 're-enlistment', its just like a normal job. Even ex-specs can re-enlist...30-days notice u can quit...no bond.
