Finally someone raised a good question on the budget!
wait for defence minister's reply...

race where and against whom?
this is a tired topic which is getting stale by the minute. like aunty getting jealous of the next door madam getting a new curtain each CNY or a new sofa. and the madam returning the favor by buying bigger sofa or more expensive curtain. its a vicious cycle for insecure janes to keep up with the jones.
whilst all the time the jones are only keeping up with technological advancement.
more for deterence rather than future armed aggression. What we lack in numbers, we must compensate with technological superiority.
There seems to be too much faith in & dependance on technology as a deterence. More critical to deterence is the external perception of our fighting ability which is more intangible.
