Strike Observers Mission (STORM) teams, six-man mobile squads are mounted on Broncos. But wud'nt BXIIs be more suitable, having better armor and also being a less obvious target on front line of a battlefield ?
Anyone knows the rationale for using Broncos ?
So that's the reason why there aren't any FiST Bionixes....
hey these STORM teams are from which formation?
All-terrain-capabilities ba.
BX is not all-terrain i think.

Hi what are the STORMS?
SG mobile forward observer teams mounted on broncos. STORM stands for strike observer mission.

You hit the nail on its head.
The BXII can sit six, comfortably, provided they are kids, average kids, not plump ones.
Thank you LazerLordz. But Broncos is not exactly noted for its speed?
But isnt using Bronco on front line an invitation for priority targeting by the enemy ?
Other armies use vehicles which are similar to those found on their front lines - mainly AFVs or APCs & " camouflaged " so as not to reveal their true role.

At least they don't break down as much.
STORMs need not to be that close to direct air support and indirect fire.
STORMs can oso dismount if needed to be closer.
Bionix will make a larger signature in terms of noise n heat than Broncos.
Broncos have better all-terrain cap.
Broncos are more expendable than Bionix (in terms of cost) :D
STORMs are not the only ground recon or strike observer method. Just one of many in the SAF. It just integrates arty FO and FAC missions but don't think it replaces the roles entirely.
STORMS need to be in line of sight of targets and are therefore on the front line.
Forward observers are high priority targets in the battlefield as they have the means to direct a lot of firepower on the opposition. Well directed strikes will break the back of an enemy force. Although there are other observer assets, STORM is one of the key / major ground observer assets in a fast moving battle.
A Bronco really stands out on a SAF front line filled with L2s & BXs. It is telling the opposition - Hey ! I am a STORM - please hit me first.
Tactics.

If the enemy is able to spot your amour units, and have the assets to target them, think it does not matters if you are in bronco or Bxs , they are all key targets !!!
Errrrmmmm ... does anyone here know, with any certainity, how a SAF STORM team is employed?
Similar to a US Army FIST (Fire Support Team)? Dissimilar?
Seems strange to be talking about whether the Bronco is a suitable vehicle without first defining what is the mission of the STORM team and how it achieves that mission
Broncos are simply battlefield taxi, theres a tactical limit to where the vehicle could go.
Soldiers can always dismount to get closer.
There are always binos and lazer range finders to direct fire at a comfortable distance away from front line.
Read key and priority..
Which target will an enemy take out first ? They will take out the one meting out the most destruction. And if its a choice between a BXII with one 30 mm gun & a STORM which is directing the Division or Brigade arty on his position, it is an easy choice.
It makes the enemy's job so much easier when we only have STORMS in Broncos on the front line. It will make an enemy's job just that much more difficult if faced with a line of BXIIs instead & some of them maybe STORMS.
Is' nt that the reason why so many fighting armies have similar front line observer teams in vehicles very similar to their front line AFVs ?
how different will it be if Bionix are used for STORMS ?

any thoughts ?
Peharps you have to look at it as 2nd tier intel.
These operates within the battlespace for precision strike. Storm looks like it served within battlespace or else it won't be publish.
So you can speculate there exist the higher FOG. Just speculate.:)
Yeah... i think I read somewhere that the British Army's FO vehicle has a 'fake' turret so that it looked like a Warrior IFV.
The Bronco will really stand-out in combat environment, although the Singapore Army's operating enviornment will probably be more closed-up with urban buildings and vegetation... unlike Central Europe or desert warfare....
I think the main reason could be 'cost' and also the amount of equipment to be carried...
i am sure the BX2 cost much more then a Bronco...... Although i think if u utilize a 'fake' turret, the cost will be much lower.. the turret cost a lot.
