Just a few quick images of my 1911-A1 45ACP pistol from an ad-hoc photoshoot this past weekend. I've had this gun since around 2001 and realized I've never taken any semi-decent pictures of it.
This particular one started out life as a plain-Jane GI "mil-spec" 1911-A1 by Springfield Armory, and has been incrementally upgraded through the years. The gun is superbly accurate and will easily hold off-hand sub-3" groups at 25 yards with my handloaded ammo.
what the hell.. nice.. i want...
hi mg sorry OT abit, have u heard abt the news of BART officers shooting a man in the back while he was lying face down in oakland?
big news man, speculation was that he got his weapon instead of his tazer.

Yeah, I saw that report. A few passengers on the stopped train captured video footage of the incident which showed that the detained individual was not putting up a struggle when he was shot.
This is not going to play out well for the BART police, methinks.

Upgrades from the original bone-stock SA GI Mil-Spec 1911-A1 include:
1. A skeletonized aluminium match trigger with adjustable take-up and overtravel.
2. An LPA adjustable rear sight.
3. A titanium firing pin (in place of the regular steel one).
4. A two-piece full-length recoil guide rod.
5. A tighter barrel bushing.
6. A slightly lighter hammer mainspring.
what would a firing pin made of different material do to the entire weapon?

The titanium firing pin weighs about half as much as a regular steel one. The reduced weight and consequent lower intertia allows it to strike the primer faster after the hammer hits the firing pin, thereby slightly reducing the delay between trigger break and cartridge ignition.

Parts for repairing, upgrading and/or modifying 1911s are as ubiquitous as those for the AR-pattern rifles. Any well-stocked firearms vendor should have them.
I honestly don't recall where I got the match trigger from. It might have been from one of the local gunshows.

Thanks!
Forgot I had taken this image of the same gun some years ago. The only upgrade that wasn't installed yet was the adjustable rear sight:

Currently shivering in MinneSNOWta.
How do you like Wichita thus far? Been to any shooting ranges there yet?
Hey MG, where are the rounds and why do you have a stack of shotglasses in the photos?

Oh, that's for when we get thirsty at the range and decide to liquor up on the firing line!
YEEEEEE-HAW!
Which Range do you go to in Minnisota?
I used to go to Del Tone at St. Cloud.
