I think we have lots of equipment like F16, tank , arty at starlight , event of war... f16 can fly back a few hours but arty and tank how do come back , alway puzzle me cos it will take weeks by then war is over ...
there must be a contingency plan to bring them over in case of war, however i guess its classified.

It's not for bring back. It's called ,don't put all eggs into a basket. Imagine, Malaysia use arty and multiple rocket and destroy most of our asst in Sg mainland in the initiate raid.
U still have those F-16 and tank that can still be ship back to retake the land or support counter-assault.
you have 4 endurance class LST. i dont see them at CNB at all times.
i think the equiments are stored there for overseas training/live firing ex...starlight is quite classified,as you know the tanks used there are not what we have in S'pore.

Why do u think SG need overseas equipments in case of emergency?
I think SG would be in very bad shape if we need overseas stuff!!
The 24/7 Stand By Force ,other Active Formations and the stuff in warehouse, including some underground, will be enough to do the jobs.
I buy their MINDEF mission statement:
http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/about_us/mission.html
The mission of MINDEF and the Singapore Armed Forces is to enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor
Never count on overseas equipments.
one third of planes are in overseas!!nnn

Is there a rule here not to bash other countries?
1.If SG suffer serious loss ,do u think we will make sure they pay back in double?
SAF is not just for defense!!RSAF can fly to their capitals and intercept their fleeing
VIPs!!We know the home adddresses of their VIP.We will find out their safe houses.
SG sensors, human or non--human,can provide useful clues of
arty and multiple rocket, among other weapons.
I have no doubt they can fire their first rounds. But how about the next rounds?
2.The aim is no SG soil will be occupied. The war will be conducted outside SG.

Good.
This is the main differences between a country serious in defense and another
not so serious.
I think at the most one of them not in service,eg in dry dock for repair or maintenance.
All platforms are procured for actions, not sitting in docks or warhouses
for what ever reasons,eg machines not workable, shortage of man powers etc.
All these are rubbish reasons.

sgstars? calling sgstars... DO YOUR THING!

why dunt u do by yourself?
well. starlight equipment would be practically unable to be used in case of attack from the north...
a) the idea of equipment coming from taiwan might place them in a sticky situation
b) since in order to come from that direction, travel through their waters would be neccesary, and would place these assets under huge risk of being shot and sunk. believe assets (ground esp) overseas are more under training purpose, rather than for combat, to be used only in dire straits, (you still need stuff for your troops to train on overseas wad)
however, if (a) can be ignored, the prescence of assets and associated materiel at starlight would place the SAF in a strategic position to be a transit point for additional assets coming from other detachments overseas, in effect acting as a stopover as part of a pipeline ferrying assets back to spore.
so basically, i think that equipment at starlight is mainly an issue at economics, rather than get the units to bring their own heavies everywhere, preposition them.
LOL! We got F-16 at Starlight meh?
Can't stand Taiwanese ATCs.

i went on holiday to taiwan last year.
according to my taiwanese tour guide, they have hosted several detachments of RSAF personnel for R&R at Hualien Airbase before.
but how accurate and how informed is this i aint sure.
in any case, Hualien is a most beautiful county. Taiwan Ups lah. if there's one country ild seriouslly consider retiring in, ild definitely do it in taiwan.

Wall of text also functions to drown out posts in between two consecutive text walls.

Perhaps our jets were just passing through. Their Civilian ATCs are already a headache on their own, I seriously can't imagine what their Military ATCs are like.
Besides, Taiwan is a sensitive location. We won't want to be seen in high profile exercises there. I'll try to confirm this. =)
most definitely.
why headache for civillian ATC ? Doubt they'd be on R&R if they were just passing through. pretty unlikely. the source was my tour guide who said their company had hosted several RSAF contigents. so, ???
AFAIK hualien has a pretty high concentration of RoC military bases and assets in the area. its a critical nerve centre since its one of the more easily defensible areas in taiwan.
Hualien has no domestic airport. it is the "fortress" superairbase which all taiwan fighters will retreat to in event of a conflict with China. basically its right smack beside a small mountain range. which allows easy protection and defence against raiders.
i remember that my tourbus took a really long roundabout the runway. there's a road or expressway (not too sure) that rings around the runway.
Hualien is away from the AA umbrella net that China has and has close access to the Pacific Ocean .
plus they got plenty of cave hangars and whatnot around Hualien. most scenic county too. plenty of flowers and gem mining from around there.

A lot of their ATC folks don't quite have an up to scratch level of English for this business. And they like to complain that "foreign" pilots have bad accents that they can't understand.

SHHH!! Before I call MSD arrest you!
On the Taiwanese ATC, it was even out on the news.
i believe thats wat politicians and negociators(spelling??) are for. once the tension runs high i believe they will make plans to ship back some stuff via other oversea bases. but do correct me if this statement doesnt seem correct
a big earthquake in eastern part of taiwan should resolved all issues political and military.
