lets just say we cant comment on operational doctrine.
but do think of it this way.
a barbed wire / wire obstacle there means that the enemy is trying to block that route of access from you. it is designed to make you reroute your way around and take longer time/different way to attack you.
you could either
1) breach the wire obstacle
2) go around the obstacle
either way, both will take time. so its a no-gain situation for the attacker. irregardless of operational doctrine, obstacles still take up time. and no two obstacles are the same, so while doctrine may say breaching, actual ground observation may call for something else.
really depends on context.
there are plenty of ways to cross barbed wire, its just not many of them are avaliable on the web too.
Barb-wire is chicken shit... Triple Cons are much harder to breach.
last time the man falling down method was taught to us with M-16s, in the 2.5G army ...
but how the hell do you do that with a bullpup rifle ? ...
and there's the bangalore torps ...... and the israeli toys ....
grab a pioneer chap and find out ...
Lying on top of concertina is no joke.. barb wire i think outdated already.
Heard about lying down on top of the con wire trick during NS, I saw a pic of it being done the ITI anniversary magazine. Very old pic though. i guess some of us have training in doing that when getting stuck in the con wire during SOC.
Use tank lah.
TS talking abt standard methods of breaching con wire or special ops ways of breaching ?
Wire cutter lor
Spectacular go use explosives, the more explosive the more spectacular it is :)
single con or triple con or ten con ? :D

u'd be surprised.
tank threads will get caught by conc wire and tangle up with the undercarraige, potentially blocking the road.
i'd use a mine flail, smash the conc wire to bits and pieces
Dig underground tunnel and surprise them by popping up from the ground la
I tot u guys use wire cutters ? ;p
Recce will only climb trees, use binoculars, NVG, HHTI, etc to look, then report back.

isn't this like old technology? bangalores were used what...
ask mas selamat hari raya haji.
ok lar. srrie. i meant triple con too. anws. i doubt that the standard inftary wld have a tank over there all the time just to support them in crossing barbed wire, and wire cutters seem to take quite long, leaving the troop vulenarable. lying atop the conc wire wld be certain death for tt poor soldier, and bangalores produce a ton of noise, not to mention that they are bulky.

Yea.. Bangalores torpedos were first used for military purposes in WW I.. Until recently in UK they improvised/copied (select your choice of words) it to become the Bangalore Blade..
The bangalore blade doesn't seem very wow to me ... It feels like having the same power as the BT from the video...
Anyway, manual or mechnical methods are very time-consuming. I would rather use explosives anytime, anyday ... But if tactical considerations supercedes, than too bad ...
Is this too sensitive ???

Lol... but at least not so bad.
long long long ago, before 3G SAF, there was the legendary dragon charge. or pipe charge 30. that was a massive bastard.
