Damn, TS did not try the infamous Chicken Pontay Rice ... but it is now extinct, so gd4u ...

yes ... people who've gone to ex crescendo would know, one plastic baggie of rice, a soursop, or fish oil in your case ... that's it .... that's their outfield rations ... for their attached drivers or unit observers.
and their fresh rations is not much better ... rice, some stems of raw vegs, a laddle of some stew, plain water, that's it ....
makes you appreciate SFI so much ....
I guess too many Singaporeans are simply too spoilt and pampered ...

you go on community visits, you see their schools ... dirt parade field, fun down facilities, some students wearing flipflops to class ......
i once visited a RTA trooper's house .....
first time in my life ... i saw a dirt floor ...... and a kerosene lit house ...
makes you appreciate so much what you get in Singapore .....

eh ?
i heard the officers are treated very differently. officer got dudes to tie up their hammock for them while in jungle, served proper cutlery and everyhing.
In any case, US army style. good food = good morale.

oh fark, their officers are treated like gods ....
you should see how the senior officers are served by the thai draftees ....
I was at this friendly sport meet between RTA and SAF, the RTA draftees literally knelt down at a low table in front of the senior officers of both sides to serve drinks ....
good food = good morale, true enough, but so if conditions are bad, can't fight ? ... it may be simplifying things to say so, but I think the RTA troops have more fortitude, and can take more shit than many SAF soldiers, simply because they suffer more deprivation than us ... we have to keep in mind that there'll easily be a shortage of everything when shit hits the fan ..
but back to shitting in the field ...
other than it being simply not healthy to keep so much shit in the stomach ... by the same corollary, what would you think of a soldier who doesn't even want to take a shit without a proper toilet ? ... do we have to add port-a-loos to our logistic train when we punch up north ? ... what's next ? mobile showers ?
Call me navie or watever. Actually, i do believe mobile showers might happen if a war really starts. A high soldier morale is an important factor ...
my dad say he got use before mobile shower when in ROC, he say a bag of water will be hung up then u sort of open the shower head for the water to come out.
The soap sibei hard to use, put water to make it soapy also no use, then when come out alr, the soap sticks to your body or something like that, then your didi will be in trouble.
i like the green soap/sponge pack...good to wash my motorbike with...
i hate to take a dump in the field... those field latrines are a no-go place when your platoon mates have a go at it before you.

fortitude eh ? hmm, i guess thats why the new Mindef commercial tries to compensate for that.
remember : our soldiers will always have, " THE STEEL WITHIN" ( can tahan no need shit for days, have the steel to hold it all back)
seriouslly, i dont mind getting sweaty, dirty, dont change underwear and clothes for a week outfield. but shitting is a major nono.
hygiene issues.
plus i tihnk its more of a matter of personal preference rather than all around SAF. i dont like to shit outfield simply because i cant squat properly. plus i never had the habit of going to toilet every 2 days anyway. i usually go something like twice a week.
plus outfield, eat less = shit less. drink less water = shit less.
okie, lolz ... that's another way to put it ....
steel within .... that's a good one ! ....
