the infamous duck rice
the tomasto pasta sucks...
they have this rare "Beef Lasagne" which i eaten only once..i think no more already
I think combat ration has very little fibre in them so you don't need to pass motion so often in out field (cause very inconvenient). When out field, if only eat combat ration, I hardly pass motion (highest record is 10 days!). But after exercise, suffer from constipation playV2('en/US/d3/d3dgskskssstdnssdts7shsosoh3gl');playV2('en/UK/d3/d3dgskskssstdnssdts7shsosoh3gl') for days...
So may not be very healthy to eat them too often.
10 days ! .....
you must be full of shit then ? ...
sorry ... just had to say that ...
but dont' you find not shitting for a long time would affect your atheletic performance ? .....
I don't feel good running around with a stomach full of shit ....
I make it a point to shit as often as I can, out in the field ....

my record is 10 days too. hmm, ive had a friend who was similar to you. he had to shit twice a day. can you imagine ? training and simulated firefight and he ran off behind a tree to shit. because he got bowel control problems.
twice a day is too much lah ....
but I think it should be at least once every two days ...
I cannot tahan the sizeures and shafting pain that comes with a stomach full of combat ration made, hardened turd trying to get out ...

I refuse to see what Fatum wrote in his TMI threads but I've always been curious about ration packs and what they taste like
I didn't know it was illegal to take it out of camp too
No wonder I have been asking my husband to bring me a pack back to try and all he does is call me crazy >.<"

the truth is army rations are far from healthly, they meet the basic requirements of the Health Promotion Board's standards but even those standards do not define what is truly healthy.
Army food/rations include sausages(high in sodium and fat), chicken rice/duck rice(high in sodium and fat), pasta (high in GI), cup noodles (high in wax content) etc. Also the portions are paltry and that includes the meat and vegetables.
they should have the following:
breakfast: wholemeal bread, oats, milk, natural Adams peanut butter, no kaya, no milo (chocolate sugar drink)
lunch: rice, boiled vegetables, steamed chicken, steamed fish
dinner: (same as lunch)
night snack: oats, bread
for army rations: they should have meal replacers, protein shakes, cereal bars...
althought the above would be more costly, it will definitely constitute a healthly diet which is what army men are currently lacking now. they have this misconception that in army, the food there is definitely healthly so it's okay to eat that duck rice or that sausage or pasta.
yeah i agree victor.. but too bad the govt's stand is to produce something to deal with hunger and give strength to the soldiers as cheaply (which also last as long as possible) and easily as possible, rather than for health

you are very humourous ....
i would rather have US MREs, got tabasco sauce, add some stuff to the MRE and you'll get hot food in no time. And you can even make them explode.

True...saw it with my own eyes. although the soldier i saw got rice and a plastic bag of fish soup..more like fish oil. And they actually dig out the trash can that we, singaporean soldiers used to throw our unused ration packs so that they could salvage the biscuits or their kids....sad
