I have 2 questions. Can someone shed some light.
1. Do we need to bind camouflage net to the helmet? Pixelized pattern leaves?
2. What's the total combat load for a 3G SAF rifleman in skeleton battle order and Full Battle Order?
According to the official British Army website http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/personal/1456.aspx the maximum marching load for a fit soldier is approximately 45% of his body weight. With the average soldier's weight standing at 71 kg, the equipment should not weigh more than 32 kg although operational situations may demand that greater loads are carried. Correct me if I am wrong, a number of year's back, our local Soldier Performance Centre indicated that the ideal combat load for our tropical theatre of operation is 15-20%. Not sure about you but 45% is alot of weight :)
when shit hits the fan, you'd carry as much as you think you should carry. and dump the rest along the way if you find them excess weight
it really depends on what vocation and the unit you are in.
hmmm 20%? try this combo, 84mm with sar21, 16kg with 4kg, that is just the weapon system only, nowadays u got BPV, and a wide range of electronic stuff, basically even when in skeleton battle order, u carry a bag to store all these stuff. With water and rations, it is a wonder if you manage to cap it at 20%.

bro. remember ORBAT and security please. no actual numbers. no offence intended, just a friendly reminder
if something isnt open-domain, dont reveal it. but can safely say, SAF troopers dont weigh their gear when they got more or less for missions. you basically take whatever is being thrown at you in your stride.
we have alice packs too. great piece of kit. i wish i had one for my personal use.
Honestly, I never weighed how much everything was altogether. There was only one unanimously agreed weight: "Kan Pua Heavy."

i think anything more than 2 water bottles and 1x 300gm biscuit and connected to my fbo is too heavy
combat engineers. nuff said.

ALICE is for CDO, iirc. the rest of us have to rely on the standard issue gear, though i seen my PS and scouts using it during active time . the new field pack sucks when using it with the old SBO.

According to the standard packing list, the fieldpack alone should not weigh more than 15kg. I think they forget to add in about tripflare, claymore, etc.. i think there must be a fine print somewhere...
If they roll out the ACMS thingy to it will suck even further. It currently weighs around 8 kg.
eh ?
i wasnt in CDO but i had alice packs too. can imagine how heavy the bastards are when they are full. but thats the SOP for us.
Pai miah le.
@shotgun
lol.. i thought got one more ? i thought the weight is wahhh KNNBCCB, who put stone inside my bag ?
Btw, the new field packs got the "emergency" jettison clips anot? I like didn't notice them...
I got the old SBO but my field pack cui liao... dunno how to replace also. Tried the new field pack belonging to my bro's, doesn't quite fit. Suck thumb have to go Blackhawk and look for one liao...

Well said dude.

haha,,, i got 3 types of field pack
the classic old one but with longer side pouches (all the way to base), the interim one and the "3g standardized one"
thats the bad thing about Spiral development. wayyyy to much gear. i got a SBO and LBV as well
IIRC, doctrine might not be to carry fieldpack anymore(cant say for sure anyway) (and i got no idea why they still issue it) might be to use assault packs instead. more comfortable, equal space. fits the LBV better than the new fieldpack.
we do have an assault pack.... called the utility bag
Supposed to be attached to the LBV using the molle straps..dunno whether its feasible. Supposed to be used for armour plates and mission specific gear. The D&G version sucks big time, flimsy and the padding in the straps are thin. The Force version is quite sturdy. Had it for 2 yrs now.
Never saw a Blackhawk pack being used b4 cause usually using stuff like that attracts the attention of short sighted CSMs/RSMs who demand everyone to use standard items. A sect comdr friend of mine got a tongue lashing by the RSM for using a camelbak hawg to carry his sect comdr stuff instead of the small old school pack the SAF use.
Stupid Fellows .. They should be pleased that in Singapore .. there are soldiers who take pride in using good equipment in National Service ! If Everyone used the standard LOW QUALITY gear .. we all die in war .. crap . Personally seen newly issed LBVs damaged , frayed after 2 months of BMT .. what the hell .. Why give the soldier a good verbal F for using better equipment ? Its Not as if the soldier replaced his SAR 21 with a HK416 .. If he did .. I would say HELLYEAH !
I will also take along an ACOG mounted on the HK416. YEAH !
I would have an AK-74 with built in GP-25 grenade launcher as my primary weapon instead of the crappy bull-pup SAR-21.
Now that's a 3G SAF rifleman's kit.

Hmmz HK 416 .. I would love to have the EOTECH heheh .. did a modification to one of those TaiSeng M4 Carbines .. sawn off the carrying handles and removed the front sight and aperture .. and added rails to the upper receiver and added scope to it ..
a NOT-bad looking replica of the HK 416 leh haha
