I think if we have 1/10 of it, we would be damn happy.
We cannot keep the A4s even of we want to because we do not have the pilots & it makes no sense.
Pilots are not like infantry. I think you can still handle and shoot an M16, SAR 21 , throw a grenade , operate a SAW, GPMG and carry out section & platoon tactics after a short refresher even when you are 40 yrs old. With pilots, you need to have flying hours on the airplane & it makes no sense to keep current on an obsolescent one.
I dun think our A-4 r supersonic la
E A-4 r still use as lead-in fighter training, so most would have flown & know e A-4
Yeah, A-4 is not supersonic.. its engines are non-afterburning.
Why would sg remobilize the A-4? our SM1 tanks are already old enough to be war relics.
Every airframe structure has a definate life or number of cycles. thats' why everything is logged to keep track of the hours. From flight hrs, to engine hours to just about everything.
In aviation, things are much stricter with lots and lots of safety factors and redundancy.
Furthermore, this aircraft is practically useless in modern warfare. Unless SG has
an excess of pilots and want to send them on decoy suicide missions..
If anything, the F-5s should be the next to be obselete.
Another way is 2 use them for deception
If I remember correctly, the A4SU can go supersonic, but only in a dive... in other words, it can't hit supersonic under its own power, but it can if hit supersonic if the conditions are right.
Please feel free to correct me, I could be mistaken.
I think it has a good chance of breaking the sound barrier flying level too... as long as its clean.
The problem with the A-4SUs were that their wings weren't meant handle that much thrust. Structural integrity of the old birds were a key issue.
Hmm, i think wat u say is possiable
i think we should give them to east timor in a quiet under the table friendship deal.
east timor supposedly has oil somewhere to the south of it's waters. makes a pretty good backup in case anything with iran is screwed
I totally agree with u

quietly la :) a few containers of "humanitarian supplies" couldnt hurt much
Good idea to 'give' to Timor, but it will stay on for as long as until the rsaf can acquire the new jet trainers. And who knows how bloody long it will take...
