Hello ppl...! I know I'm posting extra topics about becoming pilots.... I know some of ya may ask me not to be lazy and to read those posted topics... But I'm still rather confused on several issues after reading em...
First of all, I'm a polytechnic Year 2 studying Aerospace Avionics... I hope to get into RSAF as a fighter pilot during NS.
Please help by giving me some advice on what I can do to increase my chances of getting in...
~Thanks in advance, guys

I see... According to what I heard, signing a bond is a 10-year contract, am I right?
So how do I exactly qualify it's criteria?

Well, I believe most people can fulfill the criteria... The problem is how do I get through the selection and tests...? I heard that the overall success rate of becoming pilots is only 10%...
Need some advice on my question above and I supposed I can only sign the bond after I've got myself a diploma meaning after graduation?
Do well in your mathematics.
Start playing a few flight sims to develop hand-eye-coordination skills. Also, it helps you gets used to the different orientations an aircraft like a fighter might find itself in.
Stay physically fit, because pulling-9Gs require you to be fit.
Sharpen your situation awareness. Try to keep a mental picture of ur surroundings in your bus rides. Whenever the bus turns, do an orientation check. In an aircrat, it gets trickier, cos movement is now in 3 dimensions.
Have fun, and all the best.

strive for ur Diploma with Merit (COM). near perfect GPA. dean's list, director's list...etc.
even u pass the rsaf round 1 selection (COMPASS test) which can be taken at cmpb b4 enlistment, everything is put on hold 1st becos u must get into OCS b4 u r even given the contract.
and u cant apply for fighter only... u can opt for pilot (fighter fixed wings), but its they choose u to be in the 3 options: fixed wings, rotary and transport.
pls go here: : RSAF FAQs
you know nano, come to think of it, you're literally gambling with your life

y do u say so? i'm oso a reservist..
because they choose what aircraft you fly. what if you don't like it? you're screwed

correct. they choose u. if so, lan lan finish contract with a chopper / C-130.
what's more...
RSAF got more military transport planes like Hercules C-130 and rotary helicopters like super pumas, chinnook, apache...etc. than those fighter planes.
don't you check the SAF forum?

aerospace avionics is more likely to get you into the tech position?
If u signed on and made to fly a plane u dun like, then too bad. U gotta be prepared to fly any rubbish that they throw at u. U not happy, dun even think abt signing on.

u score very good in exams, good gpa = dean's/directior's list.
aka prinicipal's list of good scorers.
u can go for the COMPASS test, initial interview...etc. b4 enlist, but everything is put on hold, as u must get into OCS after BMT, only then will u see the contract....
Let's say if I sign up then everything is successful all the way to enlistment, but didn't managed to qualify for OCS coz of BMT, then can I still get into OCS?

best of best coy trainees in SISPEC r offered the chance of a crossover to OCS.
other than that, unless u r a white horse, else no other way.

So means if I cannot qualify OCS with my BMT, all my efforts would be gone to waste?

if u pass all the pilots test and interview etc they will drag u in to ocs..
there're some that finish their ns as commandos etc then become pilots..
and there is nothing good bout the life of a fighter pilot..dun be hoodwinked by all the adverts..
TS is a coordinator! dun talk to him...
SAF planes dun have your OS horr.. so can dun try to sneak in for normal life... :P

Really...? Then that's a relief... Coz my only concern is whether I can make it through the 1st stage... OCS onwards would have to depends on my fate ^_^
Mind elaborating more on 'nothing good bout the life of a fighter pilot'...?

TV ads shows the glam side of the job... u haven't see the unglam side.......
u can jollywell sit in a grounded cockpit computerised stimulator more than fly plane. u can clock more mileage on land than on air...
