F16s used for SEAD are usually armed with HARMS.
Has anyone seen HARMS at RSAF airshows ?
there's one coming up though.

Are you referring HARMS being displayed by ANY AF's Vipers @ RSAF airshows or implying RSAF Vipers WITH HARMS?
Our F16 SEADs do not seem to have "teeth". I have not seen any news or reports that they are armed with weapons such as HARM. Does not seem conceivable that SEAD aircraft are not armed with this class of weapons.

*sigh ......
dude ...... only idiots smile and show all their teeth at once, no ? .....
after a radar or sam site is idenitified... can be attacked by conventional bombs....
radar and sams are quite fragile, don't need a direct hit to get at least a 'soft kill'.
The F16Ds definitely have a SEAD role, but not necessary with ARMs.
Fighter with SEAD capabilities attacking a SAM or radar site using dumb bombs ?!!
I wonder who are the idiots with teeth ( or shud I say without teeth).
LGB get e jobs done 2, in fact some nations r now reconsidering e development of new generations of ARM as other weapons can also get e jobs done.

Dude ... you really do have a habit of gobbing off ...
as per spartan, SEAD missions can be accomplished by a wide array of PGMs including our latest acquisition JDAMs and JSOWs. PGMS, in some cases, may be the preferred option over the more high profile HARM
Sorry , but I not understand slang such as "gobbing" and "spartan" - kindly explain.
I understand " SEAD missions can be accomplished by...... PGMS...." Also, I understand " PGMs, in some cases , may be preferred..." .
So are you saying that other weapons for SEAD besides PGMs are more suited and in many cases other weapons besides PGMs are preferrred ?

Spartan is the guy who posted just after you ...
and it's "Gobbing Off", not just "Gobbing" ... 2 different meanings.
... Google is your friend

No.
That's just you trying to twist it around to suit what YOU THINK and not what actualy happens in Real Life™
Hi Spartan, nice to meet you.
I still dont understand "gobbing off ". Be nice and explain.
Hey you did not answer the question - either you dont know the answer or I must be right !
Now you will also need to explain why you have a TM on Real Life - what is the meaning ?
HARM : You need them for "shoot outs." RWR yells at you, missiles in the air, SHOOT the HARM. (Those over the shoulder launches bring a tear to my eye....)
JDAM : RWR Naked, you get information from ELINT / SIGINT / COMMINT ppl that there's a StraightFlush radar at the mentioned coordinates. Fly high and fast, and drop the JDAM.
Different weapon, different purpose. Apply them wrongly, and you have a dead pilot.
Nobody knows what other devious plans the ADA ppl have up their sleeves in real life, no need to say online discussion.
A RSAF Encik once told me: "Ask a pilot what will he do if he's locked on by the RBS 70."
he says the pilot won't be able to answer u... is that true??
Eject
Sepecat, "gobbing" is not i say 1 how i know wat it mean

If it's just the laser from the RBS 70 that locks on to you, then the RWR won't go off so the only time you know a missile is fired at you is if you actually spot it. bear in mind the missile is very very small from so far away. and those long white smoke trails you see in movies don't really exist in real life either.

Don't be such a slacker ... Google is your friend. :p
Hey you did not answer the question - either you dont know the answer or I must be right !
For a person who loves to base his arguments on what he THINKS, this must really be up your street.
Having seen you operate, the short answer is "Nah, I can't be bothered".
You have every right to think what you want, but don't expect people to agree with you until you come up with something better than "I THINK".
Now you will also need to explain why you have a TM on Real Life - what is the meaning ?
It's called sarcasm ... do I have to explain that too?

Just to add to what Shotgun said ... If you're targetting fixed ADA installations, say at H+0, bombs are good.
Even if you're not, if you look at the ORBAT of our favourite "enemy", there really is no neccissity, yet, to go for something like HARM. A PGM with a toss/glide range of 10-15km will be good enough

Encik needs to stay current. RBS-70 is not exactly state-of-the art technology anymore. There are passive missile launch sensors these days, and the RBS-70 doesn't really have that fantastic a reach.

You still cannot explain the TM on Real Life. This clearly means you do not know what you wrote.
I bet you cant explain meaning of sarcasm since you cant explain the TM thingy.

Encik may be right. You will need a laser warning receiver to know that you got pained by an RBS 70. Do we have these on our fighters ?
RBS 70 still a great weapon. It cud be hard to spoof with the man with its man in the loop fire control.
There are several drawbacks with laser guided systems like the RBS-70.
Firstly, aircraft manuevering at tactical airspeeds isn't exactly easy to track.
Secondly, the man in the loop fire control also means that it engages one target at one time.
Laser warning receivers are common implementations on Attack Choppers. And certain systems also allow aircraft like the F-16s to detect passive launched weapons, even IR guided ones.
It definitely a good system to ambush close air support flights though. But I wouldn't want to stay "in the loop" after shooting off one. Cos once my missile goes off, I'll be on the receiving end of a Mk-20 or equivalent.

In USAF terms:
HARM: cued by RWR or other means-- Suppress Enemy Air Defense-SEAD.
JDAM: cued by Elint/Sigint/Commint by means of VLBI or LBI to geo-locate the hostile SAM's radar---Destruct Enemy Air Defense--DEAD
Yankees are evil enough to upgrade the current SEAD version of HARM to DEAD version of Harm by adopting the technologies used widely by PGMs.
Thats about correct.
SEAD's by nature a "Reactionary" type, while DEAD is when you go out and actively destroy the site whether it emitting or not.
However, I wouldn't want to carryout a DEAD mission without a SEAD flight or a 2 HARMs at least for safe measure. DEAD sorties do have HARMs as well, unless they are being covered by a SEAD escort.
Oh yeah, I did hear something about the E-model of the HARM. Behaves like a Hellfire during its terminal phase. I guess that killed any possibility of a ARM-capability for the AIM-120D.
