which weapon would you carry?

In a fictional world, I'd go for the M134 "Minigun" that Jesse Ventura carried in Predator (and Arnold carried in T2) and the rest of the section help carry the rounds and battery pack. :-)
In real life, M4 version of M16A2 with H&K's short-stroke piston (instead of gas-tube, less likely to jam)+M203 for jungle, shotgun for FIBUA/MOUT and 9mm pistol (I'm biased toward Sig Sauer).

For me.... still the trustworthy M-16 series. However, it will be the plain carbine or M4 version with 1.5x scope. I have tried various weapons in and out of the SAF (I used to work in the defence industry) ... but the M4 or carbine is one of the best compromises for today's battlefield.
The M-16 series does suffer jamming because of the gas piston design. But usually jams at high rate of sustained fire ( e.g. on auto). However, how many scenarios would require you to lay down sustained fire on auto from a M-16?

Given for my current vocation,that is a driver
i bring along M16S1 as my primary weapon
1 SAR21 as secondary weapon
above with this 2 weapons with 8 mags on my SBO and 2 in my pouch which put my goretex jacket.
then 2 grenade to destroy my vehicle with stores that deemed important to the enemy when my vehicle is too chui to drive back to base.
And 1 digital compass ~
but regardless of vocation, SAF soldiers are consider riflemen and then follow by vocation.

For me, prefabably an L85A2. -
First and foremost.. i bring my eyes and brain to the battlefield.
then SAR 21 or M16.
I am not going to battlefield alone... if i am alone, i have these weapon just to protect me running away to fight another day.
if i am not alone.. i will use my eyes and brain and coordinate other weapons to decisively eliminate the enemy.

SAF inventory : SAR-21 carbine + P226. Ammo loadout in my maint. vehicle/LR.
Fantasy : H&K G36C + Glock . Saves weight.

From the SAF inventory? I'd probably choose the SAR-21 and whatever pistol they're currently issuing. I've never shot the SAR-21 as I ROD'd back in '88, but by all accounts, it's a decent rifle.
From my own inventory, I'd pick one of my plain-Jane AR-15s with iron sights (I'm a firm believer in the KISS principle) and my trusty CZ 75B if social order in this country completely broke down and I needed to defend myself and my home.

SAF Inventory: Probably the m16, have never fired SAR21 before and so I wouldn't want to risk it. As for pistol, do they have 9mm?
Fantasy: M4A1 carbine with RIS-mounted M203 grenade launcher and a telescope sight - for me to take down whatever enemies before they can reach me. And the grenade launcher, in the event I'm trapped in some "zombies" scenario
My choice of secondary arm would be a Barrett XM500 to snipe those turds before they can get within AR effective distance to cause me any harm (Ha!) And probably a CZ-TT as a sidearm.
Lastly, a handful of grenades for me to kamikaze if all else fails.

Nah, I am just an old person, you can't expect someone with walking stick to do Fire & movement to the enemy...
I am old, so i guess i make my worth charging into enemy camp.
