no change at all, just the olive drab coloured fatigues. just nice for desert and urban combat.
i saw 2 ppl wearing it at the LRT ..lol kinda nice though
you know i recall i didn't see the IDF has Bullet Proof vest either. Maybe human survivor instinct is a better weapon. If the state of israel is overrun than they die with the state.
I just think having the same uniform has become the hallmark identity of IDF in defending their country.

dont think so.
a good chunk of our BPV armour comes from rabintek. which produces class III armour for the IDF too.
Not familar with Jewish religion custom but what is the IDF headgear that they are wearing over their helmet?
if u are talking abt the thing that looks like a loose chef hat, it isnt a religious item, its a mitznefet.
supossedly breaks up the human shape.
anyone can do a beta test in sg's grass/tree?

The 1st few batches surely will work .. but after awhile .. all the quality controls will start to screw up ... newly issued LBVs to Recruits .. can start to tear and fray juz after 2 months of normal use. Damn. Surely the chemical treatments will become diluted .. Sheesh.

So,i can say US new uniform dunt come with the SAF feature.
Of course,u can say Yankees keep this feature as a TOP SECRET!!
PL tell me if USA Army new stuff come with this SAF feature:
''Additionally, the (lion note --NEW SINGAPORE SAF)uniform is
chemically treated with special dyes to ensure that it still
generates a pixelised pattern in the near
infra-red spectrum. This reduces detection through near
infrared
based devices like Night Vision Goggles, allowing our forces
to operate stealthily at night.''--SAF Army News Aug 2008,last
page
infra ID for Fren and Foe ID--interesting!!SG shall learn this!
http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/GEAR_US_Army_Combat_Uniform_w_Descriptions_lg.gif
got my set a few days back...
i can only say, quite disappointed cuz the elbow guard (completely absent) and knee guard feature (reduced to ONE strap , no pocket for the knee guard ) and the cloth quality rly plasticky, like 65% polyester or ABOVE.
go chevrons can go see the prototype uniform worn by the wood model and see the diff. cloth qualith oso soooo different.
cloth type for the MP(mass produced) type is # pattened , not the /// type used on the prototype uniform.
Cannot be arrsed to reply to Lionnoisy's post point by point because he has a very convoluted writing style that does not lend to easy reading.
The special dye he is talking about is, I believe, what other modern forces refer to as IRR treatment. Essentially, it involves treating the material with a dye that stops its from glowing when viewed with NV devices. It is nothing new and indeed, the fact that the SAF is making such a big thing about it surprises me - because it implies that prior to this, the SAF were not given IRR treated kit!

2.I am a novice.SAF put the new No.4 introduction as a pull out in Army News.
Is ''SAF making a big thing''?I dunt think so.Just a routine PR job.

British Army 100% and it has been standard for god knows how long. I am 99% sure the US army has been doing it for some time already.
It is making a big fuss if they specifically point out the feature in Army News and then provide pictures to try and back up the claim.

how can u sure US gets the infra red reducing treatment when
it is not mentioned in the just released uniform?
In life, dunt assume.Dig the whole truths.
This is just the oz case where the Collins sub have NOT been declared
reaching IOC or FOC!!Our fren here said'' This is not big deal''!!
Dunt assume western is better than SG or others countries in specified itmes.
U may probably think western new comabat ships are more stealth than
SG one.Think again.Dunt assume.Look at each small itmes than
u may have second thoughts.
Do u think which main deck will casue more signatures--
the clean main deck SG Frigate or
The messy main deck of LCS?
The concealed anchor of Formidable Frigate or
the exposed anchor on bow of UK Darling destoryer?
Pl note i am not talking about the overall signature as we cant tell.
But small items add up the whole picture.
Can we just zoom on certain small itmes?
above--concealed anchor of SG Frigate (cover of anchor chamber open)
v exposed anchor of Type 45 on bow.

pl forgive my ignorance.
pl tell me officail sources of wat u say. There are too many assumptions
in this forum which proved not completed true.
For example,Is FN 2000 really can fire ABS grenade?
pl forgive me if it has been posted.
