HK MP5

Is any Units of the SAF using the HK MP5? If so, are they phased out already?
With regards to this qn, because Improvements in body armour may see that
the
9X9 Parabellum
10mm auto
and the .40 S&W (useable ammo in the MP5SD and MP5)
may not penetrate modern body armour .
With regards to stopping power, how powerful is the muzzle velocity and accuracy out of a 30 round clip of ammo?

probably use in law enforcement more than in Military ops since the 9mm have very limited effectiveness pass 50 meter. SEAL team uses the MP5 in a lot of occasion but my last trip talking with them they are switching to the M4 and in some cases the HK 416 ( unofficially)
I am chronographing my MP5 at 1280 to 1300 fps on an average with 124 grain FMJ with Winchester white box ammo! getting more velocity with the 115 grain FMJ.
We have steel target setup at 100 yards and the MP5 could easily hit the target with ease using the Aimpoint!

SOF,NDU,SWG are using...non-military SOC,STAR,PCG,PCG STS,KINS and the Security Command which i believe uses the MP5K with the briefcase.
Awwww Dave...stop flashing your toys man! Am green with envy! I don't even have my own Airsoft version of them!

I have the same setup for the MP5 on my Classic army MP-5A3 maybe except the forearm light which I don;t use.!however, I think the Classic Army's MP5 is quite fragile espeically on the receiver to barrel action joint ! I have seen several guns broke ! also! the selector is very weak ,,... don;t have a very positive selection.

There are three right? One for full auto, one for three round burst and one for single shot variant?
Yeah. i heard that the gun accuracy is not good. and often jams.
Has the USMC retired this gun?

if you talking about real MP5.. the A3 version that I have has a S-E-A configuration which is Safe....Semi ... and Auto) however, you can have any configuration on the HK system by simply buying the differnt packs ! the most common I see is the 3 position that I have and also my freinds have the 4 position which is safe,semi,3 rd and auto!
No the MP5 is super reliable ! it will feed anything as long as the ammo is hot! and it runs like a champ ! it is super dirty because of the delay roller block system. and accuracy is better than any SMG I have shot including COlt 9mm, UZI, MiniUZI, Steyr TMP, thompson M1a1 and Model 1928, Walther MPL, Sterling and MP40!
The MP5k is a little more finicky than the MP5 but they do run very good also! I have the 7.62 version which is the HK G3 and they are as reliable as any of the roller block rifles ! more so reliable than the L1A1, FNFAL and defeitnly put in close to the AK that I have. MP5 is not known to be subMOA accuracy! but I can do head shots on a IPSC target at 100 meter ! i think that already does its job as a SMG!

Seems the Marine Force recon was using the MP5 and the MP5SD at one time and have since gone to the M4A1! I have seen a few MSG90A1 and HK USP Tactical which is known as the Mk24 but that is not std issue!

I thought SIngapore have airsoft clubs and people are allowed to buy those airsoft guns abnd keep it in the club?? SO why can'y you get the MP5 airsoft??

AFAIK MP 5 first introduced to our SPF in the early 90s, version HK MP5 A2,A3,A4,A5, MP5 sd and MP 5K. ITS the best SMG that i have tried before, lightweight, easy to handle ,its very accurate and there's no need to wear ear muff when firing the weapon. MP 5 is to be used for CQB and escort duties etc. USERs of MP5 normally go for headshot rather than parts of the body, one shot one kill. Its normal for the rifle to jam after continuous firing or lack of servicing by the users BUT if you are good at IA it shouldn't be a problem at all. For 100 m shouldn't be a problem for the MP5 but i suggest using the HK 416 for long range.

You must try the MP5 to realise its fire power and accuracy. Even a novic can learn handling it in 90 minutes and be a good shot at it.
