All help greatly appreciated!
East Coast (as east as possible, close to Tanah Merah Ferry Ter) gives a great view of ships entering the S'pore straits to either dock at our ports or go on to Malacca Straits, vice versa.....
Thanks very much! How about any idea of schedules? Do you guys sit there and watch for extended periods or do you actually know when the ships are coming in?
Off topic but still relevant to your interests. Because I can :)
And the idiot better not put any of his madness in here.
JMSDF Ships heading for the Indian Ocean today.
JDS Akebono (DD 108), a Murasame class Destroyer
Followed by the JDS Tokiwa (AOE 423)
OK, I'm at a loss as to what this is. Only clue I have is the big 5 on her starboard side bow. Can't really make out the fluttering flag.
isn't it the IMDEX period now?
Seems like a good chance to see foreign warships that call upon us.
On another note, I'm still waiting for an ID to this one. Looks very similar to the Oliver Hazard Perry class but not on target.
Totally totally unlike the OHP class.

Yes yes yes, then what the hell is it?
posted my guess previously,
it seems to be on sea trails as you can see there are no proper fittings of guns or radar. A clearer picture on the pennant number would help. but it looks like a heavily modified version of the Indonesian Ki Hajr Dewentra (364)

Honestly, I don't know. Although I was exposed to such ships from time to time, frankly speaking, only the USN ships are the recogniseable ones to me. Of course RSN ones aside. But even the RSN MCVs and PVs look practically the same at a distance.
USN ships' masts are the most unique. Tall and broad. Easily recognisable miles away. With your naked eye, you could recognise a Ticonderoga from as far as 3 - 5 miles away.
I know this one's pretty elusive and it doesn't exactly look like the KRI Ki Hajr Dewentra and the Indonesians dun really go through so much modification. I hate having an unidentified file in my archive and now I have 2...
Might need to search beyond what we usually see in the straits.
PLAN ships have passed by before.
And South African Valour class frigate called on us before...

The Taechong was preceeded by a Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin class destroyer too but since there's already an earlier posting of the same class so I omitted that.

Indonesia will host an international maritime event bringing together the world’s largest warships including the USS George Washington super carrier with around 5,000 crew members on board, the event organizer said Thursday.
The Sail Bunaken 2009 event will be held from Aug. 12 to 20 in Manado, North Sulawesi and will showcase 31 foreign warships, 10 Indonesian warships, three tall ships and 165 sailboats and yachts from 29 countries.
“More than 1,500 divers from across the world have confirmed their attendance to Sail Bunaken festivities, which is expected to break the Guinness Book of Records,” Aji Sularso, secretary of the national committee told reporters.
He said that none of the participants had cancelled their visits due to last Friday’s twin hotel bombings hitting the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriot hotels, which killed nine people and injured more than 50.
“Navy chiefs of staff from 25 countries and ambassadors from participating countries have confirmed their attendance,” he said.
He said the participants would conduct a sailing pass and an air show in front of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the Manado Bay area.
The participating countries include the US, Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia, China, New Zealand, Singapore, England, Thailand, France and South Korea.
