btw, i believe there is a knife shop? something like in shophouses... what shop is that? Seen it like way back in '99
forgot where. what other knife shops are there? and good brands for tactical knives?
i'm keen.
There was 1 in Katong Shopping Centre, Sngarms was in Chinatown. Dont think they're still there. 1 shop in Beach Rd (the army surplus shops) selling traditional keris. For tactical knives, I like Cold Steel.

No offence but Rambo knife was superb for movie as it's big and scary but in actual fact, if you have 20kg of gears on your back, you wouldn't wish to carry anything that heavy.
Also, having a hollow handle means the blade and the handle has to be joined - i.e. more room to give way. That said, certain brand makes good hollow handle knives. Check out Chris Reeves knives.
Today's context, if you are preparing for survival, better to have something specialised. Even keeping it separate is better. If you lose your knife, you dun lose your survival kit.
Lastly, butterfly knife is ILLEGAL in Singapore the last time I checked. Exercise with caution.

and is my blade different? it says officier suisse stainless rostfrei
hihi,
I think 'Messerli' is a company in collaboration with Victorinox. Google on it. Thus the branding when you purchase that particular SAK.
'Officier' = Officer
'Suisse' = Swiss
'Stainless' = ...you know it.
'Rostfrei' = 'Rust - free'!
Stainless already still rust free? Redundant stamping but probably be a collector (?) when compared to a plain blade.
Keep your SAK as they have officially open tender to factories outside Switzerland to make SAK!!!! That means, in the near future, you may find Swiss Army Knife (Made In China)!!!!!

Hi yall, first time posting on this forum. I have some urgent questions which i home some of yall here can help me out with.
First off I love knives, not really a fan of those small utility or pocket blades, i prefer more weight in my palms and in my swings. So id prefer thoseheafty fixed bladed knives. Anyways i was considering getting a blade off a website in the states.
The blade seems to conform to the "legal regulations" like what some of yall have stated.
- It is 11 1/2" in length
- Is not bladed on both side, only on the bottom with a serated edge on the topside near to the handle.
- Is not automatic in operation being a fixed blade by nature.
Therefore i am wondering if it is "legal" to bring it into singapore or will there be a risk of confiscation. I am just using this blade to add to my collection. Will i need to
A) Obtain a license.
B) Fill out any papers.
C) Do any further steps such as preperation of doccumentation (Invoices, recipts) prior to customs clearence in PSA?
I would really appreciate if anyone here on SGF could help me out as i am really looking forward to getting the blade soon. Thanks in advance. ~sunday!

Hey Sunday,
It's best to check with ICA. They are the authority and you can also check the tax you may have to pay.
That said, from what you have said, it should be legal. It's more convenient if you have posted the brand, model, spec etc...for reference.
Good luck.
Dear all,
Just some info for you knife collectors in Singapore.
20. What is the definition of "arms" in the Act? Under the Arms & Explosives Act, "arms" is defined as - any firearms, air-guns, air-pistols, automatic guns, automatic pistols, and guns or any other kind of gun from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged or noxious fumes or noxious substance can be emitted and any component part of any such arms, and bayonets, swords, daggers, spears and spearheads.

4. I would like to import a Samurai Sword. How can I go about importing it? You can import a Samurai sword through a forwarding agent, who should declare it through the Tradenet system. For more details, please log on to http://authority31.tradenet21.com. You may be required to bring the sword to a police station for inspection before an import licence can be issued. If it is hand carried, you should declare it to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority at the point of entry. The sword may be impounded for inspection and you can claim it from the Police Station which has jurisdiction over the entry point. Please note that if you are allowed to possess the sword, it must be kept in a dwelling house and not to be carried in any public place without any lawful purpose. |
List of Prohibited Postal Articles
12 The current Regulations provides a list of prohibited postal items, such as fire arms, explosives, controlled drugs and poisons, where the sending, conveying and delivering of such items constitute an offence. Possession or handling of many of these items, without approval from the respective Government authorities
(e) Explosives and Firearms Regulation 3 (1) (a) of the current Regulations prohibits the post, covey or deliver by post articles containing any explosive or flammable substance (paragraph (i)), and any arms, firearms …etc (paragraph (vi)). These provisions ensure that dangerous items are not transported via the postal systems. However, these two listed categories of items are not sufficiently robust or complete to ensure that similarly dangerous items within the same categories are included. Examples of dangerous items not within the scope of these two sub-sections include stun / replica guns, knuckle dusters, tear-gas and nanchaku. It is proposed to replace these two sub-sections with four new sub-sections that link to and encompass the prohibited items under the scope of the four related Acts. The four Acts are as follows: (i) Arms and Explosives Act (Cap. 14);

Hi all,
Just added a new toy to my collection. It's a SOG Visionary 1.
Specs from SOG:
The SOG Visionary I
features the same spectacular blade shape as the Spec Elite, with the
handle of a Mini X-Ray Vision. The end result...a great blade in a
small package!
People with big and small hands will find the Visionary I a pleasure to
hold and carry. It has a finely textured Zytel handle that is both
lightweight and ergonomic. Its ideal three-inch blade with slightly
curved straight edge opens quickly and smoothly via SOG's Arc-Lock™. The Arc-Lock offers superior strength, speed, and ambidexterity.
I initially wanted to get it online and save around $50 but in the end, subcumbed to lust and work stress so needed something to defused it.
It came in uber sharpness and can slice paper in micro thin slices!!! Nice.
So far, loving it!

SAF issued SOG is not paratool if you are wondering....also the blade is too narrow for anything serious....Signaler will find it more useful...
As EDC, you may like to try this little '$1.99' shop at Temple St. No, the blade there are not $1.99 but it's super cheap cos they are old stocks from Sng Arms....
You can find many old scool Gerber and some Buck knives for less than $30!!
I guess so, but at least it wont shock anyone when i am trying to clear a double feeding. in me SAR21. But then again i am inclined towards anything over the top.
Again, thanks for the great tip mate!
Double feeding won't need another tools except your pinkie le....it's more assuring to use your fingers to orh then to use a another medium....just like using a spatula to dig the nose....no feel! hahaha...
