Just a quick check, has anyone recently got their overseas online purchased fixed-blade (single-side sharpened blade length 8"-10") survival/camping/hunting knife delivered right to their door-step without the need to go down to Cantonment road to 'collect' it?
I presumed it is a single knife order. It seems to me that the ICA x-ray machines are highly effective!
.
I usually mass order using USPS...after awhile i realised its just up to chance whether you have to go down, or up to the officer at the scanning machine.. i've had packages of 3 knives being stopped and had to go down ICA(paya lebar), and had packages containing 8-10 knives coming straight to my house. i've recently ordered via fedex though, first time, don't know how they work.(heard u go straight to cantonment instead of going paya lebar first if courier.)
I actually have ordered knives, based on the recommendation of this forum. Initially ordered some 2 cheap Moras from newgraham, as a test. This went through fine. Then ordered a Grohman boat knife and it also went through, no issues. Then a bark river bravo 1 - again straight to door-step. All these knives are about 4 blade length. Then a multiple order of 2 knives - bushcrafty types - again no issues.
Will try some normal folders next - will be cheap again to "test the ground".
TO devilblue - have not tried such a large knife as I don't have the need for such a large knife....for now. Though the Fallkniven Thor looks interesting.....
That's definitely on my list. I'm just worried that as the opening mechanism is a flick motion, the authorities may classify it as a flick knife, although it is not strictly an assisted opener. So I chickened out and got a Ontario rat 1 folder, spyderco tenacious and blade tech ganyana lite.
We'll see how it goes.
Don't worry the skyline is legal. Assisted openers are in the grey zone, whether it passes inspection depends on who's the inspector clearing your package. Flippers are fine, A/o grey and automatics are not allowed.
Anyway i got my condor varan and the 7 other fixed blades straight to my door :D Fedex cleared the box for me before delivery.
Anybody want combine order from knifecenter??
My bushcraft set!
Nice set Ahle91! What bushcraft knife is that? It looks like my Condor, only nicer.
Hey Captain, it's the Bushcraft by John Landi. Handle is red fiddleback maple i think.
Here's his link!

Not too expensive..his prices are quite reasonable and he uses A2 for this model, good steel.
I like condor, i have their varan and i handled my friend's bushlore, thinking of getting a sapien! Post pics of your condor too? It's nice to see bushcraft oriented collectors here in SG! :)
Yeah Ahle,
I've got way to many knives in the process of trying to find the "perfect" bushcraft knife. I have that same Wetterlings axe and a few Mora carving knives too! Thanks for the tip on the Landi. He's got some nice stuff. Since my kit is more geared for the pine forests of the Western US, I'm thinking I should get a Malay parang for these Southeastern Jungles here. Is it legal to own one here in Sing? If so, any idea of a place that sells them? I'm guessing I might be able to cross the bridge and find one in JB perhaps. I'd love to try some bush rafting in the jungles here. It'd be a whole different environment than I'm used to. Cheers!
True, but its fun to have a good axe! :D
Machetes are legal, despite what most people think haha. Just try to get one that doesnt look anything like a sword which sometimes need give gahman $20 sometimes no need.
Go ahead and order one online, what length u looking at?
Btw im getting a new bushie knife made for me by an european maker, but ETA march to April 2012 :(

Technically, a flick knife refers to a switchblade ie. a button to press to activate. That's what Cantonment told me the last time. Unfortunately, ICA guys have no idea what a flick knife is and keeps interpreting it as being able to 'flick' it out, which puts some flipper and BenchMade knives in that category. Irritating to have to run down to ICA then Cantonment. If you wanna be sure, you can always email Cantonment to check. A friend of mine did that before he ordered this huge-ass folder, and printed out the email to go to ICA. Funny thing was, ICA decided to clear the folder that day without the email. Heh.
That aside, I'm clearing some 13 folders of mine with a mix from CRKT, BenchMade and Kershaw. PM me if anyone's interested.
Hi all...do u have any idea where i can purchase gerber products here,in particular bear grylls ultimate fixed blade...or is it preferable to purchase online through amazon/ebay in terms of pricing and availability....please advise...anione?..thnks in advance...
Guys, anyone tried to bring in Kabar Kukri? It's 11.5in for the blade and it is less than the 30cm blade length rule. Any advice? Just starting on a collection...

Beach Rd Army Market sells it but its very expensive, they are like selling it about SGD200++ and for that carbon steel quality not worth it.... I suggest you purchase it via amazon, its alot cheaper and I mean ALOT lol~
If you want Gerber,I would suggest you buy the LMF prodigy or LMF II and improvise the sheath with your own ferrocerium rod, at least their steel are better (not the best but good enough) and made in US.... BG Ultimate knife made in China =)
Dun get me wrong, I think the Ultimate knife is not bad, in fact most knives are good knives if you know how to maintain it and dun abuse it. It will last you very long =) the best survival knife is the knife you feel most comfortable with =)
Cheers!
sorry if i missed this, but issit ok to order leatherman skeletool CX online and have it posted to singapore?
