I did my SOC in 8min 50sec, that's my best time and subsequently I could never break that record myself. I only rememebr I was the last one in my group, after all the obstacles, I saw my section-mate and the only thing in my mine was chasing him literally, keeping him in sight.
I saw people fell from jacob ladder before...it's really a shitty thing to have happened...sprained ankle and some bruises at the thigh area.

My personal best was 8min 24 sec. Woo Hoo I beat an officer!
On a more serious note, like you I also cannot break that record in subsequent attempts no matter how hard I try. The obstacle I fear most is the swinging bridge. Its becoming a phobia for me. Very early in my NS days I fell once on the swinging bridge and hit my little brother against one of the bridge supports. Painful until I cannot talk for 10 min. Thereafter my legs will turn to jelly everytime I see the swinging bridge.
Edit: Correction. My best timing was 8:24, not 8:06
I failed SOC everytime till going to ORD, I pass with 9 min 2 secs
whats the time to pass the soc? 12min20s?

During my time, for OCS is not exceeding 9min 30sec. Not sure with other vocation.
BR,
Officers are human leh, not superman, how can everything also win people one?
lol

During my time was 10:30 I think. Don't worry SOC timing in BMT (even in unit) very easy to pass wan. You will pass if you have discipline. Just don't stop no matter how tired you are... especially after you clear the last obstacle. The few people who failed because they jump down from the ramp, ended up in a squatting position and then lack the discipline and willpower to stand up immediately and continue.
i rem i scared of the jacob ladder my feet will get stuck inside so dare not run down the ladder so fast.

I was from obese batch BMT, so not required to clear SOC during my BMT.
Hehe.
yes sir.
I think BMT was my most memorable part of NS.
I realised that I am able to overcome lots of physical obstacles.
I wasn't able to run before I went in for BMT.
Pia like hell, then managed to get gold for IPPT during BMT.
I not happy because my PC running beside me with boots challenge me the final 200m, I lost.
