It depends on if they want to fight. But I doubt if they can take on more than a country at a time considering their resources.
Probably would be a "What if?" that reality.
what can a handful of MKM do to singapore or asean? MKM are no miracle plane... and other then able to do a few aerobatic stunt... on malaysia national days and F1 formulae race... can anyone believe that a handful of plane can win a war?
diplomatically we should consider malaysia's recent aircraft purchase as "enhancing regional security"... otherwise it would be very "insensitive" for us to bring in our large numbers of F-15SG/ F-35 and Phalcon G-550.
of course... malaysia have to be run by a bunch of retards to even attempt to challenge any of her neighbours militarily just because they just bought a handful of MKM....
I would say the threat of military action from Malaysia or any ASEAN country is at an all-time low at present. Most threats are those which are faced by all ASEAN countries, such as Islamic militancy and piracy. I don't see any evidence of any ASEAN country embarking on military expansion.
I thought most of them are mothballed and sitting on the tarmac gathering rust?
Having the plane is one thing, are they able to use them effectively or not?
In terms of agility?

sigh do we need to be this rude everytime we discuss about malaysia?

Since when they said those MKMs were for "challenging neighbours"?
i am merely stating fact.... if you feel its rude... its because you are too emotional.
malaysia never nor will they ever dare to say such "undiplomatic" statements... but are we to believe that they bought the aircraft to challenge USA or PRC or for stunt performance during national day?
No more such stupid topics can?
Stop the thinking of i will kill you and you will kill me.
If conflict ever comes to our part of the world(aka world war) we will all be working together.
All of us are already such small countries. If we fight each other we will only be weakened to be taken as a prize.
If there's ever going to be a tussle between two democractic neighbours...Turkey and Greece will start it first. Malaysia and SG are brothers compared to the armed rivalry of those two.
We are brothers! Complement each other.
There are no winners in a total conflict. Only losers. The only winners will probably be the ones that do not get themselves embroiled in the conflict in the first place.
Better to stick to hardware & tactical comparisons of the aircraft rather than to stir up the dust when there is no need to.

Well actually tripwire, your post struck me as being a tad bit rude as well... not to mention trigger happy.
It's not really our job to run them down, but to make sure our own shop is in order.
why would i be interested in running an air force with 8 F-18D, half dying fulcrum and less then a dozen MKM on trainning?
and dont take it too hard... i am merely stating facts... if it sounds rude... its only because facts sucks...
This thread is like deja vous...
The Su-30s are of no threat.
Jfoogph, modern air warfare is not as simple as a single platform vs single platform comparison.
What you are suggesting is RMAF vs RSAF. That pits their doctrine, training, and integrated capabilities against ours. Su-30s on their own, can do little against an IADS that contain some of the best combat aircraft, C3I and Air Defense systems.
i thought 'this vs that' were not allowed?...the last thing we need is some retarded troll came here and mess thing up.
Pls refrain from country to country war scenarios, otherwise I will have no choice but to close this thread.
Examples of statements that one should refrain from:
"Country X will surely whack Country Y's air force cos it has so many more F-22s"
"20 planes vs 100, how to fight?"
"They surely die one la, maintainance so bad, personnel will be caught with their pants down in a surprise attack"
"Country X people are lazy good for nothing idiots, and they so poor some more, got air force meh?"
"LOL launch one missile they all die le"
I am sure many of us us here have seen many more of such meaningless statements that obviously show a lack of understanding of real world issues and that many underlying factors actually play a part in the outcome of any potential conflict.
This is a forum for meaningful discussion for militarynuts, not some chit chat session. If you want to post crap, go to chit chat.
So please limit yourselves to a neutral, purely platform to platform comparison. Example: The projected performance of the APG-63(V)3 radar compared to conventional radars such as the APG-68(V)9, the merits of each, and the detrimentals.
Will post the above ASAP and make it sticky.
If you want to post anti-Singaporean, anti-Malaysian or even anti-Armenian or anti-Georgian threads for that matter, please kindly stay away.
We do not need people to continue to smear the reputation of this subforums, or pose an irritation to others, or worse still to implicate others.

Chill out Delta,
This guy's not trolling so far. Besides, I just made a point that u can't really compare platform to platform. Especially in the context of whether the Sukhoi 30MKM poses a threat to ASEAN.
No single platform is capable of taking down an entire IADS on its own.
*not incl. of our classified gundams.
anyway this thread topics was posted in other site n was shut down not sure why its here.
To be frank, any form of comparison will bring in references to nations which own them; overt or otherwise. Just lock it if the thread goes out of hand. Otherwise, the forum will be very dead.
But i agree in keeping a watch on trolls who are covertly coming up with ridiculous posts to infuriate other posters. Especially those who say they are Singaporeans but who are patently and clearly are`nt.
edit: if you need help in uncovering foreign trolls, pm me. you know who i am falcone.
Anyway, the SU-30 MKM is no threat. The F15sg are more than a match for them. What more if you consider the entire damn RSAF with all thier equipment.
If you want to compare the equipment(individually or holistically) to other forces, we should look towards Australia, Norway, Taiwan, South Korea, etc. No point comparing with Malaysia. They are in a different league. Also, it will be less emotional for some Singaporeans.
Su 30 MKM or F -15SG. Both are powerful planes. Well armed, powerful engines, good manuverbility, advanced avionics ETC. However in air to air combat, the quality of the pilot makes the critical factor in winning an air to air engagement.
