Upgrade! Must upgrade!
Especially at the front of the turret, with some slope amour or reactive armour.
As long as they sharpen the base of the main gun.
The blunt front of the current A4 makes it look like WWII Tiger I.

lol now that you mention it....i think the L2 uses the old kinda hatch also, the springs are externally exposed. but L2 turret v small for the body haha. -

Phased upgrades for L2A4 in order. Top priority will be increased armor over front arc & perhaps an active protection system also. Newer ATGMs and 125 mm guns already present in the region - no probelm for these to penetrate L2A4 frontal armor based on already 25 year old tech.
No such thing as threat not existing - also cannot wait until it exists before you upgrade ; it will then be too late !

1)If there is no existing threat, it is more cost-effective 2 use e $ in other more urgent areas.
2)Not all upgrades r publicized. Many add-on upgrades r already in existent but not publicized

It looks like a hybrid between C1 Ariete and Leo2A5.
Japan doesn't export their military hardware as far as I know so these are off limits to foreign nations.

I agree with you. New generation ATGMs and projectiles will be a problem and we should expect our Leopards to evolve in tandem. Im just in love with the sloped armor of the 2A5 onwards.
Anyway, it is good that attention is on the Leopards rather than other stuffs.
Hope we buy more!!
