the usaf have their Pararescuemen, does we have our own equivilant?
Good question.Dont think Singapore has or need to have one soon cuz how often does a pilot get shot down in a hostile territory/behind enemy lines in the RSAF?
what the hell for?
Well we do have people who ride in choppers and then come down with a winch to rescue others. Those guys are specially trained too. I had a friend do that for awhile. And they also featured during the cable car accident.
I guess that's as close as you get to Para rescue

Singapore has a SAR responsibility within Singapore FIR(Flight Information Region) which is rather far out into the South China Sea. Had a friend that used to be a winchman or something of that nature. Told me other than military rescues, they also do cilivian emergency evacs of sailors from ships out at sea. These cases usually are sailors falling ill, injuring themselves while at work or sometimes even injury from drunk fighting while out at sea.
There is a map of Singapore's SRR (Search and rescue region) in pdf file below.
