lol smlj
I also don't know how to climb a tree -_-
wad's the use of climbing tree when u have an axe to chop it down
Errr....military relevance?
WTF?
climb the tree for what? escape wild boar ah?
You scolding scholars ar? But scholars in SAF sure climb one leh.
The thing that I would like to point out is that it will only take an afternoon to teach a chap how to climb a tree and hide in it.
But it will take months, if not years, to teach him what is it that he will be fighting for. But once he knows this, he is a better soldier/

that one is not tree, it's a ladder.
modern army dun climn tree. they climb the ranking ladder.
From my point of view, it doesn't matter whether they know how to climb a tree, or survive outdoors, that is important. These are all SKILLS. Skills can be learnt. The more important thing is their ATTITUDE. If they have a bad attitude, then no matter what you teach them, they won't learn anyway. Like one poster said, you can learn to climb a tree in a few hours; you can learn to survive in the jungle in a few days. But if you have the wrong attitude, all this knowledge wouldn't be worth nuts, cuz the first instance you lose your aircon and your pc, you will give up alr.
For eg, look at this clip

Near the end, compare the attitude of the 18 year old soldier about to go to Afghanistan with the average attitude of the 18 year old Singaporean boy.
actually before they should learn how to climb ladder before learning how to climb trees.
yar. actually sortof agree. notice that many youths nowadays cant see the importance of national identity
'only know how to study . dont know how to climb tree '
its a methapore. it means kids need to lay off the books and do some physicals activity...
Since my ex is a teacher, I`ll say that our school kids today have one of the best all-rounded education in the world; including physical activites; relative to many other countries.
I have climbed durian trees and also curi rambutan when I was a kid but not many chance to climb trees in my army days.
