I looked down on this game before and thought Lock-On was the only worthy air-simulation game until a few days ago....
Now I can't get rid of it...the chance to fly planes of the 60s and 70s(of course with modded add on aircrafts) and
the chance to relive the 6 day war or the Yom Kippur war...playing the side either Israel or its Arab enemies.
Where else can you fly Mig-21?
Just thought you might be interested as well if you give it a try/a chance.
Lock-on? It doesn't rank as high as Falcon4 in realistic flight and avionics. Its like an "arcade" for hardcore simmers.
Yes Lock on is a bit arcadish in terms of avionics. But if you just want to fly hardcore sims only you'll end up playing the same title for more than 10 years.
I've come to accept that while Lock on is not very realistic is fun to play, beautiful and immersive enough.
The same goes for Wings over Vietnam which really in terms of avionics is worse than Lock-On with many simplified functionality but it is FUN, beautiful and immersive.
You know even Falcon doesn't have a a realistic flight modelling. I'm just saying that each titles do better in some part of games in terms of realism and worse at the other. For example in Wings over Vietnam on Hard flight model the aircraft would tend to lose its balance in flight if you have one ordnance less on one side of the wing pylon(after firing 1 missile or dropping 1 bomb).
Just my 2 cents
Falcon4AF's flight model seemed real enough to me. Some features u won't see though, like the unbalanced bombloads. The flight computer calculates and negates all this by default.
Really is that what is called fly by wire? If the F-16 really flies the way they do in Falcon 4.0 that is one smooth plane to fly.
Actually I have the original falcon 4.0 which for some reason is not playable in my machine. However I also have Falcon 4.0: allied installed but I haven't put much time into it. They really have remaped all the keys from the original falcon 4.0 and it's a bit overwhelming to relearn everything again.
I'm thinking on getting Wings over Europe since I'm enthralled by wings over Vietnam but I'm a bit hesitant since they both potray different jet ages. WoV may be immersive since the avionics then was almost as simplified but to take the 90s jets with as simplified avionics may irritate me.
Yeap, thats why its the electric jet. When you don't provide inputs, the computer does all thats necessary to stay neutral. Kinda boring for those who are used to correcting unbalanced loads, etc.
However, input is still required for cross wind landings. No, it doesn't automatically detect crosswinds and correct for you.
